The story behind that photo is told in Cowabunga! The Surf Box set, and is pretty cool. The photographer hired some random unknown surfer and they got the picture they wanted in one shot. Then the guitar, without a drop of water on it, was put back in its case and went back to the factory to be sold. Somebody out there probably has that guitar and doesn’t even know it.
