Clubbed Thumbs

Anyone here have clubbed thumbs? Or am I the lone freak here.

Dumbass topic but yea, my friend was making fun of my weird thumbs. So then it got me thinking and I did some research and found out only about 5% of the population has clubbed thumbs, so it’s pretty rare. Also found out it’s a trait found in royalty and inbreeding xD scary thought.

O_O

Haha that’s a clubbed thumb

Mine’s not as severe as that one. Bust basically it’s when you have a round thumb with a short wide thumbnail.

What’s that white thing found at the base of your nails? Forgot the name of it buy yea I don’t have one of those xD.

And my index finger is just slightly longer than my ring finger. What’s that mean?

my friend has those. i used to make fun of him for it in high school lol.

The matrix is sometimes called [2] the matrix unguis, keratogenous membrane, nail matrix, or onychostroma. It is the tissue (or germinal matrix) which the nail protects,[3]. It is the part of the nail bed that is beneath the nail and contains nerves, lymph and blood vessels.[4] The matrix is responsible for producing cells that become the nail plate. The width and thickness of the nail plate is determined by the size, length, and thickness of the matrix, while the shape of the fingertip itself shows if the nail plate is flat, arched or hooked.[5] WIKI says:

The matrix will continue to grow as long as it receives nutrition and remains in a healthy condition.[4] As new nail plate cells are made, they push older nail plate cells forward; and in this way older cells become compressed, flat, and translucent. This makes the capillaries in the nail bed below visible, resulting in a pink color.[6]
The lunula (or “the moon”) is the visible part of the matrix, the whitish crescent-shaped base of the visible nail.[7] The lunula can best be seen in the thumb and may not be visible in the little finger.

If you have white spots past the lunula, that is either due to minor damage to the nail as it is growing, or a sign of potassium deficiency, and you should eat a banana or something.

HAHA! Wacky ass Fred Flintstone freaks. At least you guys are good at hitchhiking.

On the topic of abnormalities, If my two arms are either hanging flat by my sides or extended straight out, my right arm is almost 3" longer than my left. I think it’s because of my jacked up back, though.

MURDERER!

Also the ring finger longer than index finger is more common among men (I remember being told when I was younger that if your ring finger is longer you had higher levels of testosterone, but that could be a myth). My left ring finger is longer than my left index finger; that difference in length is also greater than my right ring finger being longer than my right index finger.

So which is supposedly “normal” longer index or longer ring finger? My ring finger is longer on both hands but I never knew that was abnormal . . . if it is.

Another weird thing . . . . I’m right handed, but LEFT-EYED. This means when I’m shooting guns and such, I have to do things in a most unnatural backasswards way in order to be able to properly aim and use a sight.

I don’t know if there’s a norm as such but longer ring fingers I think might be more common for men

Also it sounds like you’d be good craic in a darts match.

HAHA by left eyed do you mean your left eye is stronger than your right eye? Because I got very weak right eye and damn near perfect vision in my left eye.

Damn I am a freak.

Also found out that clubbed thumbs are common among murders. o_o

No, it’s not about clarity of vision so much, but trueness of alignment. Everyone has a “Dominant” eye, and TYPICALLY, if you are right handed your dominant eye is the right eye, and opposite for lefties.

Here is an easy way to check it.
With a can of soda or something about 10 feet away, put your finger out in front of your face about 12 inches. With both eyes open, line up the finger to be directly in front of the can or object. Now, close your left eye so that only your right eye is open. Now do the same for the other eye.

In one instance the finger will remain aligned with the object you were lining up. In the other instance, your finger will jump to the left or the right. Whichever stays consistent to the alignment . . . that is your DOMINANT eye, and if you do archery, skeet shooting, or anything else requiring accuracy of aiming, this will become an important piece of information.

Try it . . . some people never find out about this until way later in life.
