The fuck just happened.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That’s so random. I certainly was not expecting that.

Homie must be needin’ some bail money again or something.

Cleo gon’ give it to ya!!!

Includes a second disc of hot remixes featuring the production talents of Mozart & Friends (Lady GaGa), Wunder Bros (Missy Elliot) and Guenter Schulz (ex-KMFDM)!

Guenther Schultz Remixed DMX?!

I chuckle at Guenter remixing a track but what business does a fucking gothic industrial label have in putting out a dmx greatest hits comp? Why couldn’t he have gone to Def Jam or some other rap/hip hop label? I didn’t think cleopatra liked hasbeens this much.

Other than sub-par best of comps and not very much different than bootleg live cds, what has Cleo ever done?

“Ian Curtis was a fan of Nektar… and you will be too!”

In the '90s they put out a lot of stuff you couldn’t get elsewhere - they distributed records from Euro labels Zoth Ommog and Hard and Off Beat, and some of their original signings like Spahn Ranch and Switchblade Symphony were doing good stuff. Psychic TV and Download were signed to them for awhile.

They were always big on grinding out compilations and remix albums for quick cash, but when they realized how lucrative and easy “tribute” albums are is when they really started to go downhill.

They also haven’t been a strictly “goth/industrial” label in a long time.

WOAH! What the fuck? I thought that fucker was dead! Any time I heard the name DMX in the last ten years it was always about how much crack he smokes.

I think signing with Cleopatra is a step down from NOT being signed. Gah.

You guys. Best supergroup idea ever.

KMFDMX.

Truthfully, they also were one of the only labels that specialized mostly in “space rock” – a lot of Motorhead, Chrome, Hawkwind…not to mention releasing groups like Gary Numan, the Damned, etc.

They’re basically in every way just like Invisible, but with more variety.

They also got some PIG albums out there. Albeit without his permission. And 2 of those tribute albums featured 2 of Raymond’s best covers: Head Like A Hole and Disobedience.

I like on that NIN tribute when 16 Volt did “That’s What I Get” and changed “…after you just taught me how to kiss” into “I’m gonna have to give that line a miss.”

Ha!
