damn, now THAT’s a record store. as always - great find revco, thanks.
Bowie wasn’t actually sitting there talking to Chris was he? 'Cause at one point they do a cutaway reaction shot like Bowie’s the interviewer. Weird.

he wasn’t - i got the idea he watched chris saying that on a monitor - then maybe later he comented. plus i don’t think what we saw was the whole broadcast.
that was really great.
Reckless is a pretty cool store, the staff is very friendly and helpful and I really enjoyed browsing through the stock the last time I was in Chicago. There is also a great used bookstore a couple of shops down from the one that Chris works at that has four levels, you could easily spend an entire day there.
Has anyone here ever been to the original Wax Trax store in Denver? I am just wondering how their selection is of older stuff. We have an excellent music store here in Atlanta named Wax’n’Facts that has been around since the late '70s. I once met Front Line Assembly there on the Caustic Grip tour which was kinda cool.
I was under the impression that Chris owned that record store not just managed.

chris’ accent got all weird there. heh.
I like Reckless’s selection, but the place isn’t great for browsing. The cards are a little hard to just flip through, and it’s subcategorized to the point that I often don’t know where I should be looking. Still, it’s great to visit record stores with personality.
i like reckless a lot. haven’t been to the new downtown store yet thought. i order a good amount from them online. well i try to at least. 3/4 of the time the stuff is already sold by the time i order it but i’ve still picked up some good deals online. if they ever get a real time inventory online it’d be my favorite online record shop by far.
I haven’t been to the downtown location yet but on the way home from work, I walk by one of them and stop in every other day to see what’s new. Also, what I love about them is that they help promote a lot of local acts (with posters on the front), so I usually read about shows from there. They did that for us for the Barker nights. I have seen Connelly at the Reckless in Wicker Park a few times. USSA played a gig at that Reckless actually.
The staff are incredibly friendly and they will always suggest music. I’ve learnt of a lot of bands this way (“If you like that, you’ll definitely like this…”). I think I heard of acts like Pelican (a local Chicago act - Broadrick has remixed a song of theirs) through them. I certainly hope that the Internet downloading does not affect this store and I don’t think it has as a lot of vinyl purists always purchase stuff from their awesome collection and used CDs.
If you ever make it to Chicago, definitely make it a point to stop in one of those.
ChemicalMeat, that bookstore is awesome - think you’re talking of Myopic Books and open every day until 1 or 2am.
i live in LA.
you alll are sucks.
Neva been to Chicaaaaeeego.
Yeah Myopic Books thanks for reminding me of the name Afra. That’s definitely on my list of places to go back to when I visit Chicago again.
I love Piccadilly (?) Records in Manchester. Every CD and Vinyl has a big sticker which features an awesome description about the artists and what the album/ep/single sounds like. I can spent hours in there!

Dude, WHo cares? We got Amoeba on Sunset!
And that is why you suck. God damn, I would kill to have Amoeba within driving distance again. And in this case, I’d even consider 5-6 hours to be “driving distance.”

agreed. i don’t think a record store could be cooler than one that has live jesu shows, and also webcasts them live for free.
Chris, you were the cocks.
Must make it to chicago. Gotta love those old school record shops, always end up walking away with a treasure or two.
The downtown store is cool, about the only record store near downtown anymore. Rock Records is done and Tower closed a while back.
Amoeba is amazing, I could go broke shopping there.
