This WaxTrax documentary got me thinking about things. I remember getting their “catalogs” in the mail and seeing the Chris Connelly albums on it. Along with that were bands like 1000 Homo DJs, Revolting Cocks, and Front 242. I remember thinking, “Chris Connelly? What kind of name is that for a band? Must be some folk singer or something.” So, I never gave “Chris Connelly” a listen. Sometime later some friends asked if I wanted to go with them to see him at some little dive bar near me. I was like “Chris Connelly? The folk singer?” I’m not really sure what this has to do with anything but, Chris, if you are reading, if you had picked some other name, like “Crisco Lard Ass” I would have probably checked you out.

I do the same thing still despite me even liking some emoish-“folk” artists that go by their full names.

If you’re you’re putting your music under your first and last name you either need to be folk and emo as fuck, rich and going solo, or high as shit for me to care. I don’t know…
