Chris Connelly Appreciation Thread

I’ve been devouring his solo stuff lately. Really, really, really digging almost all aspects of it (not quite into the industrial leaning work, funnily enough… but everything else is absolute gold).

This has been stuck in my head…

Yes. I need to get hold of those older albums, or indeed more of the later solo stuff. I really enjoyed Artificial Madness, although that was obviously a bit more ‘rock’.

One of my all time favourite Chris vocals though is from this Pigface track https://youtu.be/X_rAvbXqwt4

Chris can be tough to follow at times. Some of his solo work is flat out weird. With that being said, I really enjoy most of it. Phenobarb still remains my all time favorite. You can hear the chaos that was going on in his personal life in that album which was referenced in his book. It has some of the best recorded drums I have ever heard. It sounds live in a lot of parts. Souvenir from a Dream feels like you are in the front row at club show.
Shipwreck is my second place disc with Artificial Madness not far behind. Ever since AM, he has been on a bit of a roll IMO.

Damn, there’s a lotta Bowie in that Vine account! I hadn’t heard that Pigface song, that is pretty awesome.

I agree with you Elrey, since Artificial Madness each album has been consistent. It wasn’t so much that his catalogue was all over the place, but each album was really eclectic and sometimes that’s kind of jarring.

I fucking love this song… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inBPRQ3wSfo

I didn’t realize he was ever signed to Cleopatra.

I kind of couldn’t believe Cleopatra would release something worth listening to…!

The decibels album is pretty good. His solo stuff really reminds me alot of Bowie. It always a shocker, because I always expect something along of the lines of late 80s Ministry/Revco.

Blonde Exodus will always hold a very special place in my heart…brings back memories of a wonderful yet sad time in my life…
