Well folks, im heading to Chicago for the summer and was wondering how many of ye are from there and what do you recommend be done while there. Im heading in June, probably stay for round 2 months. Dont have accomodation or a job sorted yet, but if ye have any advice or can direct me to a site or message board of relevance it would be helpful.
P.S. Whereabouts was Wax Trax located? I believe thats where Ministry were resident for most of the 80s-90s.
Oh, there’s absolutely nothing to do in Chicago in the summer. You’ll have a miserable time trying to have fun.[;)]
I suppose that for a nice generic overview with a searchable database, the place to go is metromix.com
The original Wax Trax! store was on Lincoln Avenue, about a half a block north of Fullerton, on the east side of the street, just a few doors north of the Biograph Theater. The address was 2449 N. Lincoln. In later years, Wax Trax! moved to 1653 N. Damen Avenue, a block or two north of North Avenue, again on the east side of the street in the neighborhood known as Wicker Park.
I’m guessing that you’ll be spending a lot of time in Wicker Park and the area just to the south of it near Division and Damen if you’re looking for a party.
