“While the band continued to pump out songs from their recent works and ignore anything that the long-time or older fans would be familiar with, Al started stumbling around the stage and then his performance started becoming affected.”
Another thing that’s oddly strange – FB posts by sycophantic fans go disregarded I’ve noticed. My aunt’s posts about her cats get more replies. Guess the jig is up.
Traveled from a state over to see them. I couldnt pass seeing them. Blackburner was the opener Thurs night. If my memory is right a few songs into the set Al fell over onto his posterior, close to Mike near the edge of the stage, and stage hand helped him up. At the end of United Forces, he was stumbling around the left side of the stage again, it kind of looked like he was trying to go out to the crowd, but was pulled back and had to be carried off stage as he was fighting to get away. I only filmed the end of Khyber Pass, wish I had recorded more. The crowd really didnt get going until a few songs in - maybe around the time Al fell over. The crowd needed a few songs to warm up even though outside it was boiling.
Ive seen Ministry few times throughout 90s and last time was in 2006 this was a rocking show! My friend I went with has never seen Ministry live, and thought they were great. Everyone in the crowd looked to be having a good time. I was happy with the drumming, too bad a real one cant be used for the newer releases.
Honestly I’ve always been shocked at how well he’s always seemed to have held it together at live shows despite his addiction demons…
I’m not an old time fan but from what I’ve gleaned over the years it seems like he pretty much always delivered live. Like he might have been leaning on an amp on Clitour but he was still singing in tune lol.
Am I wrong on that? Depends on who you ask? I’m sure opinions will vary.
He was leaning on amps and mumbling incoherently between songs on the Sphinctour gig I saw. I was a bit surprised how lucid he was on the Fixed DVD. I guess I caught him on a particularly messed up night.
Let’s not forget the custom mic stand he had for awhile with a motorcycle seat built in so he wouldn’t have to stand up through the whole show. At least he doesn’t need that thing anymore.

When I saw clitour (Houston) he just hung on the mike stand and had paper (lyrics I guess) taped to the floor around him, barely said anything but still delivered as far as playing guitar, harmonica and singing. One of my favorite ministry shows actually. Also really dug animosity tour.

Give it time (if we haven’t already) and I’m sure we’ll have the other Handle Bars incorporated. Whether Al wears them or we got a groupie on stage. [laugh]
So Wacken’s tomorrow and it’s still advertised as “Best of Show” on their site… That’s my only problem with this new tour, it looks like they sound great, etc, etc but that’s pretty misleading. It should be “Best of Show… According to AFJ.” It’d be nice to at least hear Hero or Scarecrow. Sigh…

i think that you and i are going to have to form a band and cover scarecrow if you ever want to hear it live again. haha.
i hope this setlist does end up being a full blown best of set, and they record it and put it out on cd and it does well and al realizes that he could make even more money if he just did this.
