This just takes the piss. The US FCC amazes me daily. It really does.

About 1:14 in, they censor the gun shots that are meant to be shot replacing it with a ‘pop’ sound. The sound of the gun reloading is also censored. She (on the left) is so surprised at this, she turns around to the DJ confused. Song lost it’s edge after those samples were censored.

In a country where anyone can get a handgun in most of the areas, and a country associated with two wars, one of which is completely illegal. Censoring gunshots?? Wow.

Pitchfork mentioned a while a go that she actually made the change, at the Letterman shows request. Im sure she did so begrudginly, thus the glance at the dj. I dont think it was a surprise for her though.

I wouldn’t really call this a new level of censorship, it’s what I’d expect would go on when MIA plays on David Letterman. Personally I’d rather she didn’t play Letterman but she didn’t call and ask before accepting the gig, damn her. :slight_smile:

hey hey hey!! Letterman is great!! He’s miles ahead of that HACK Leno! Why Carson picked him to fill in is beyond me. Although, neither hold a candle to the HEAD (Conan O’brien)
