Calgary setlist

Here is the complete Calgary setlist in the proper order. They played for just under 2 hours (I timed it!)

Let’s Go
The Dick Song
Watch Yourself
Life Is Good
The Last Sucker
No W
Waiting
Worthless
Wrong
Rio Grande Blood
Senor Peligro
LiesLiesLies

1st encore:
(Burton Bell sings all songs from here on)
NWO
Just One Fix
Thieves

2nd encore:
Roadhouse Blues (The Doors)
Just Got Paid (ZZ Top)
Under My Thumb (The Rolling Stones)

My review:
I had a great time but was expecting a 2 and a half hour show with more songs from the older albums. Maybe I should sue Ministry for false advertising!

That’s a damned shame.

You guys are lucky I wasn’t the one making this setlist. It would have gone something like this

Crap

There are a total of 3 songs from this set that I care to see . Not worth $40. The Mars Volta is playing the night before at the same venue. It was gonna be hard to see both shows back to back like that anyway.

Whoever posted that “joke” setlist on that other thread - you suck! I was so excited when I saw that and when the apparently true list came out, well, I haven’t been that depressed since the day Cheney lived through his heart attack.

Are they seriously going to play the (almost) identical, sets at each show? I’ve been into Ministry since I was a kid and this is the first time I’m going to finally see them (April 4th in Hollywood) - please, someone tell me they aren’t going to play what appears to be the most uninteresting set every show!

I mean, sh*t! Not more than 2 or 3 songs to even look forward to! They better have that damn cage up if they pull this crap in Hollywood - to keep me from expressing my true opinion!

Well, I will just have to hope to Buddha that they wise up and play like Ministry.

BTW, I am a total newbie to this forum - what is this “PA” everyone keeps talking about?

That homo Burton singin those songs is a joke!

Well, it’s a magnificent pile of fail.
Hell, I LIKED the last 3 albums (haven’t heard Cover Up) and I still think it fails. Al apparently sincerely believes that the Bush trilogy is the best stuff he’s ever done. I mean, I know every time a new album comes out he says some variation on “I’m bored with looking at the past. Ministry is all about moving forward, and this new stuff rocks harder than anything else!” He’s been like that for 25 years. But man, enough is enough.

I already bought tickets or I’d be staying home myself.

'Sup yall?

Saw Ministry was playing in my city tomorrow so I thought I’d check here and the PA for the setlist… Good gawd, truly awful to say the least!

It’s amazing it took a travesty of this magnitude for the PA members to finally stand up and call bullshit on grandpa wino. Finally they see that the emperor truly IS wearing no clothes, something many of us over at prongs have been saying for ages!

Al and Angie… I hope it was worth it for you two to screw over the fans by luring them in with false promises of golden material from much more creative periods. Go ahead… take the money and run. I don’t care anymore, just stick a fork in it already…

I have a ticket, but I am seriously considering selling it (even if I lose money) and sit at home the night of the show with a 12 pack of Molson and watch In Case You Didn’t Feel Like Showing Up on my home theatre…

IMO a night of drinking Night Train and jerking off to 10 second porno clips would be more enjoyable than bearing witness to the raging shit-storm that is the CU Latour!

Look… I know I’m a staunch and avid supporter of Al but these setlists (other than that fake one) are absoluterly awful. Even by my standards. OOOOOO… Look, they played Thieves! Like we don’t hear that at almost every show. Where is the “spanning their career” part? All I’m seeing is their career for the last 6-8 years. I mean. If Al and Co. consider that Ministry has only been around since 2000 then I guess that’s fine BUT IT HASN’T AND EVEN THE PA AGREES THAT THIS IS A FARCE! It’s truly sad when PA and Prongs agree. Angie and Al should really change things up in a freakin’ hurry or else they are going to lose a lot. People will sell their tickets, or even worse, just not even show up. They will stare at their ticket and say “Eh. What’s the point? I heard this last tour.”

Where the hell are the surpise songs like Stigmata? The Fall? We Believe? LORAH? The Missing/Deity? Nursing Home or Kaif? ANYTHING but the same standarddized shit. I don’t want 4 songs from each of the last 3 albums with a little nod off to the good stuff with SOMEONE THAT ISN’T AL SINGING IT. This is truly disheartening.

All I can say is that it better get better before the end or I’ll actually try to assasinate that man and his wife. And if “his friends” or whatever he has left of them show up to help him on this tour they better get his ass back in shape. I know OhGr is a bit “eh” these days but if he shows up maybe we can get some Smothered Hope or something in there… And maybe if Jello can get off his fat ass we can get Hellfudge or something. Christ… I can only pray that it gets better.

Maybe they are just ironing it out and seeing how the reactions are. Or maybe I’m just too hopeful for something that will never happen. CHrist… I feel like listening to NIN - SomethinG I Can Never Have, LOL.

Peace!

Krowe

And honestly. 3 shitty covers end the final ministry set ever? Just Got Paid should be the last one, as that seems to be all Al is thinking about these days.

I know that I tried to sell an extra ticket I had at the Revco/Ministry show a few years ago, and not even the scalpers would buy it off me. (the place was empty)

I’m hoping that at least the metalheads coming for Meshuggah will fill up the place. Al should be thankful as that’s the only way its going to happen.

That’s too bad - RevCo kicked ass (and proved Al CAN concoct a “career spanning” setlist when he puts his mind to it).

I ended up seeing the show, it was my friend that couldnt make it. I enjoyed Revco’s set so much more than Ministry. BSQ was the best way to open that up. All that was missing was Mr. Connelly.

I haven’t seen that level of discord on PA…maybe ever.

There are some people over there defending the set list, and basically telling the ones who are upset that Ministry owes us nothing…Al can do what he wants…go home and listen to Halloween over and over if you don’t like it, stop living in the past, etc. The problem is, Ministry does owe us something. The point of touring (aside from promoting new material and making money) is to give something back to the fans. The concert should be our payoff for all the albums, merchandise, and concert tickets we spend our money on. We indirectly support Al’s livelihood, and he should know by now how diverse his fan base is, and that all of his albums are liked by many. Al, stop with the ‘I do what I want, never look back, and don’t care what you think’ act, already. Surely, Angie has read some of the song requests on the PA - why not give that much back to the fans?

Concert tickets are getting too fucking expensive, and people just want their money’s worth. I’ve mentioned this before, but The Cure is currently knocking out 25-35 songs a night, touching every album they made in the process. That is a band rewarding its fans. I don’t expect anything pre-88 on this Ministry tour, but I don’t think it’s too much to ask to have some semblance of variety, and not ignore multiple albums in the set. I also don’t want Ministry to merely be a live hits jukebox like The Cult, but they can’t deliver such a narrow set for their finale, seriously. Why has he chosen to skip four entire albums from '88-on? I’ve been going to Ministry concerts for 20 years, and heard it all, but I still would like to hear some of those old songs today. What do people talk about when concerts are finished? “Wow, they played [this song]”, or “I can’t believe they didn’t play [that song]”. Most fans go in hopes of hearing at least some of the older material. There’s a reason people went nuts when they played “We Believe” in '03.

There’s no denying that the ‘press release’ for this tour was vague, at best. The fireworks would have started a lot sooner, had they’d announced that the main set was nothing but the Bush Trilogy. This current set list is the farthest thing from a ‘thank you’ to the fans. The supporters will say, “If you don’t like it, then don’t go”. Bullshit. I gave this band 20+ years as fan, and this is what I’m left with? Is it really so far-fetched to expect a retrospective set list with some surprises on a farewell tour? If it turns out that Al is saving some ‘oldies’ for the final Chicago shows, then I guess the rest of us get screwed, right?

1002

Shit, I was so stoked to see them finally but this is just bullshit! And Al isn’t even singing half the songs?! Me and all my high school buddies who used to sit around and watch ICYDFLSU and try to cover Thieves in our sad little punk band 15 years ago all got tickets and have been giddy as little girls for next week’s show. But this is more than an outrage, it’s the final let down. I am seriously considering selling my ticket and going to see X the following week instead - but I couldn’t in good conscious sell a ticket to see this crap.

Fuck GW and fuck Al!

I sure hope you are reading this, you lazy, lying deceitful motherfucker! I mean you Al.

[inline images.jpg]Mr. President, if you read this accidentally, well, sorry, but I just am really mad at “Ministry” - keep up the good work (well, better work than Al).

Upwards of 40 and 3.5+ hours at some shows. I just got my tickets for cleveland yesterday. they certainly do know how to treat their fans as you said.

Does Burton sing those 3 encore songs alone or together with Al?

We diss a band that we used to like for that exact reason. They USED to be good. We didn’t jump on the bandwagon after they released HOTM. And we are upset at the lack of respect we are given for all the money we spent on them back in the day. (When we had to go out and BUY the singles)

you are corrent that Al wont say shit about the crapness that is the current setlist. Doesn’t care what we think because he is too hard core for anyone.

“The fence isn’t for nostalgia but meant to keep people from fleeing after 13 straight Bush trilogy tunes. My bad, I initially predicited it would be 14.”

I was implying more that the fence better be there to protect Al from all the loyal fans full of liquor and rage as they find out they were totally ripped off.

Man, this whole thing as really pissed me off - here I was bragging to everyone about how I’m going to see Ministry’s final tour and all the awesome shit they will play from their “rich and provocative 30-year musical history.”

ARRRGGGGHHH!

Yes - you should sue.

I’ve seen dumber lawsuits!!!

Actually, if they misrepresented facts about the tour and fans relied on the false statements in deciding to buy tickets, well, it’s a pretty textbook example of at least negligent misrepresentation.

The press release says they will be playing (in addition to stuff from Last Sucker) “songs that revisit the band’s rich and provocative 30-year musical history”

NWO, Thieves and Just One Fix are hardly representative of Ministry’s history. 3 songs from 2 out of like 15 or so albums? Not even close to the advertisement’s claim.

You never know, someone just may try to pull it off…
