Burning inside siren

So, the sample of the siren from Burning Inside comes from The Thing. Not sure if it’s been known or shared here before, but i was watching The Thing tonight and when they figure out the dogs are fucked up kurt russell hits the fire alarm and the start of burning inside kicks on. Pretty fuckin rad!

dog barking in 12 inch version might be sampled from it too?

Huh. For some reason I always thought it was the alarm sound from near the end of Day of the Dead, for when an elevator is moving and everyone’s trying to escape the base.

Or maybe I’m just thinking of a sample from a different song. Either way, nice find. I love watching movies and catching stuff I recognize as having been sampled somewhere.

I never knew this either…The Thing is one of my favorite movies ever…gonna have to pop my dvd in later and have a listen…

Cool find! I love that movie and never noticed that before.

I always get the screams in that track mixed up with the ones in the extended version of Just One Fix, which I think are from Hellraiser, but I think the Burning Inside screams are from a different movie.

I’ll add it to the samples page…thanks!

Outstanding John Carpenter film. Ennio Morricone did a nice job with the eerie film score. Rob Bottin’s makeup effects were awesome. There’s a funny behind-the-scenes interview with Rob Bottin worth checking out.

I also thought the 2011 prequel film detailing the discovery of the alien and the demise of the Norwegian base station was decent. They did a good job of lining it up with the 1982 film.

Sounds like it to me.

Hey, it does sound like that! Pretty cool!

Yeah?! I thought that was just a remake. That’s pretty cool. I may have to check that out then. I didnt really waste any time with the 2k remakes like the hitcher, robocop, nightmare on elm st., etc etc. Now that i know The Thing 2011 isnt a remake but a back story I’ll give it a looksee if i get a chance.

I’ve hear the 2011 The Thing described as a “remake” as it technically exists as a prequel but follows the template of the original so closely that it’s basically a remake…I thought it was an ok film…certainly not terrible but also certainly not great…but info love that Mary Elisabeth Winstead…hubba hubba…

It’s definitely a prequel to the 1982 film. Spoiler alert - Norwegian explorers in Antartica find something buried beneath the snow, they bring it back to their base station, it thaws out, and all hell breaks loose. The movie ends with the lone husky dog escaping and running towards the American base station. If you were curious as to how that two-faced melted and burned corpse came about, you get to find out too.
