Hi. So, I’ve gotten tired of all the Ministry-bashing going on lately. I don’t want to comment on it, I don’t care, so rather than contribute to that fire, I’d sooner contribute a thread more deserving - i.e. a POSITIVE one.
That said, is anyone looking fwd to Buck Satan, the long talked about project Al is going to do? I know, pigs will fly, yadda yadda, but considering he has mentioned putting the other projects to bed and all, it’s a strong possibility this may be next.
So instead of thrash, we’ll hear some Reverend Horton Heat-esque energy from Al. What do you guys think?
I’d listen to it out of curiousity, but i’ve never been into country at all so i’m very reluctant. But seeing the direction Al has gone in the last several years, I suppose it would be interesting to see where this goes. And no, i’ve never heard his bridge performance.
what lordpiko said. if it’s gonna be anything like that bridge school perfomance, i’ll probably gonna dig it. but something tells me that buck satan thing won’t get done and released at all. another thing that got turned into joke. it’s like that game “duke nukem forever” which was announced in 97 and now ten years later it still is not released.
I think it’ll be put out simply because it’ll sell reasonably well for his label due to “curiosity”. I wonder what musicians would be used? I’m not a big fan of country either although i remember someone playing me that Melvins “Crybaby” album which had a couple of pretty solid tracks with Hank Williams the 3rd. Maybe Al should just use the Melvins for this record? After all Al did do a remix for the Melvins so maybe they could do Buck Satan?!
Like i said i believe Al’s going to have to pump this album out to keep Thirteenth Planet above water.
As for what it’d sound like…he DID promise a country album so if he did give us a Rebel Meets Rebel thing he’d obviously be crusified here! And rightly so.
As for peeps tired of criticsim? Tough shit. That’s what makes this forum what it is - deny it all you want. The fucken pussy-ass assertion that “Ministry doesnt have to be credible or have any depth” is yet another classic variation on the old “heavy music doesn’t have to be good cuz’ it’s just heavy music” line. It means "I like my dreck just the way it is. " You guys can excuse crap if wish, but I prefer to hold out for something better.
I didn’t say that. I just wish that it was all in one thread.
I have a feeling this may happen sooner or later now. As one person pointed out (not the exact quote, so don’t shoot): “Even if you don’t know like what Al has done in the last 4 years, he has been busting ass”. Something along those lines, so I think that and the revco is possible. Pailhead, i’m curious to see. Which reminds me, my copy of side trax was stolen god knows how long. I really need to get that back, I almost forget what pailhead is like.
The album has already been sold to a label. It’s expected to be out before the end of the year. They (Mikey and Al) are doing promo stuff for it as we speak.
Sweet (on the label info) despite the crappy drum machines and tired vocal style i thought the two songs i heard were catchy esp. after the last few releases

Yeah. I wasn’t too keen on the drum machines either. I hated the “Every Bone” song, but liked “Medication Nation” and whatever the other one was (I can’t remember the name of th song).

I did not write this?
No one played me the Crybaby album…I bought it the day it came out?
I think it’s going to wind up being a very uneven album.
Hank III is putting out something like three albums at the same time next month, and I suspect they’ll all be better. He’s probably hired a real drummer for one thing…

I’m okay with it being uneven. Most albums I own only have a couple tracks that I actually listen to. If the album has 3 or 4 strong tracks and perhaps a few others marginally decent (the rest is putrid garbage, of course) I’ll be happy.
And yeah, I hadn’t thought about it, but I’d expect a track or two to make it into Ministry’s set on the road as well. That would be pretty cool, actually, as we could (hopefully) hear them with a real drummer.
I am going to start a country band in response to Buck Satan’s runaway success and I will call it Muck Savage. It will be great and it will have real drums. I will ask Reynolds Washam to play guitar.
