Nice one!

That’s awesome!

Sweet, take that trucks!

Did they deliberately make it 11’ 8" just to fuck up some trucks and show them who’s boss?

That’ll learn them trucks!

Fuck yeah

they should sue the hell out of the city, that’s just fucking stupid…and dangerous.

It really is retarded. I don’t know how long it’s been there, but I’m really baffled that it’s allowed to remain.

Surprised there isn’t an alternate truck route or they haven’t lowered the road to keep that shit from happening. even more shocking the city hasn’t been sued.
Late,
grmpysmrf

I sued the city because my truck ate that bridge.

Another time I was at my grandmas house and I took the elevator up to the next floor but the door wouldnt open so I opened it up myself. I went to pry the door myself but I found out that there were about three more doors behind that door. When I opened all of them I found myself in an abandoned garage with desks.

Then a black guy sang to me.

The city has nothing to do with it. It’s a train bridge that the railway owns and you can’t just tear down a train bridge and rebuild it. And you can’t just dig down deeper and mess up the foundation of the bridge. There are clear warning signs, flashing lights, and alternate routes. But, there are always idiots that won’t listen or read.

it’s 100% the cities fault. of course they could tear it down and rebuild it. whoever made the mistake should have to pay to correct it. the city is in charge of the layout of its streets. that’s clearly a very big fucking hazard.

warning signs and flashing lights won’t do anything, especially since they only warn you at the last second lol. most of those people probably didn’t even know how tall their truck is anyway.

The exact same thing has happened to me too, weird

That is one impressive bridge. Couldn’t help noticing that most of the problems are caused by rental drivers and not professional truckers.

In our town, our main N/S street runs under the Illinois Central Railroad line where the viaduct is about 120’ long and there is only a 11’-10" clearance. I’ve seen a couple of trucks get stuck…always rentals.

All fun and games until a person following behind the too-tall vehicle dies.

Excellent observation.
I’d like to know more about the specific signage BEFORE that particular railroad bridge. Is it just a bunch of square yellow signs here or there that say 11’ 8"? That doesn’t really mean a whole lot to most people. I hope it is a giant unavoidable sign that says “LRGE TRUCKS WILL BE DESTROYED” and have a picture of one getting a flattop chopping from the hungry bridge.

Or also include a bunch of signs saying “Trucks Prohibited: Turn off immediately” (with pictures showing why).

I just think the MESSAGE might not be getting communicated effectively. And if that’s the case the city certainly needs to take some initiative to address the matter.

Yeah, after the third or seventh truck I’d hope that they’d make it extremely clear that large trucks should not go under the bridge.

Here is the FAQ for the bridge:

THANKS! I guess they’re doing what they can.
The best question on the FAQ was “Are the drivers stupid?”. Hahaha!!

Oh, shit that’s in Durham. It’s a few hours away but I kinda want to drive under that bridge now. Maybe I’d get lucky and witness some poor bastard rip off the top of his truck.

I actually really do want to see it now for some sad reason. It almost feels mythical.
