'Breath'

Wow Gunnar you just had to bring up the most nonsense ending to an album. Use Your Illusion 2 is easily the band’s best work (save for Breakdown and So Fine) but My World is just so random. I’m sure that’s one of the reasons Slash and the rest of them left.

I rather like breakdown but you are super correct about so fine. I hate that song to the point of anger. At least my world is aggressive sounding. So fine is just crappy pap.

slash left because axl had paul huge lay down guitar tracks over slash’s guitar on sympathy for the devil… as well as other executive decisions axl didn’t bother running by the band … like hiring dizzy reed without so much as a comment to the others in the band… the sympathy for the devil debacle was just the last straw. Don’t know why duff left… but I remember an article where slash said that sympathy for the devil is the sound of the band breaking up.

Gilby clarke and matt sorunm were fired.

It’s good BECAUSE it’s repetitive.
You’re not a Swans fan, are you?

I am a Swans fan and a fan of other Ministry songs like “Lava” which are very repetitive as well.

I don’t know what it is though I just feel “Breathe” in particular is TOO long. And I don’t really like the chorus. I feel maybe the drum beat should have gone straight pounding without the toms for the chorus to break the monotony. I dunno. I mean I love the drum beat, vocals etc. I’ll give it another shot.

Also maybe another reason ‘Mind…’ is not a favorite is because my first Ministry album was ‘Greatest Fits’ and the version of “So What” on there destroys the original IMO.

Is the “So What” on there the same as ICYDFLSU or is it a different show/recording?

I like Test. TMIATTTT is my favorite cd. TMIATTTT is really a snapshot in time for me. It was the first time getting into industrial and loving it!

you actually LIKE it? would you skip forward to listen to that particular track?[/reply]

Yep…back when I listened to TMIATTTT a lot…sure did.

So What on Greatest Fits is an exclusive - it’s essentially similar to the one on Sphinctour. It’s almost ten minutes long and has the Al hooting like a monkey sounds in it.

Yes, it’s good. Also, the version of Supernaut on it is exclusive and it’s probably better than the original.

And a proper GNR reunion will never happen. It’s also a real shame that they’re last album consisted of shitty covers which also had an ending about as bad as My World. Axl butchered Look At Your Game, Girl. It’s not as bad as So Fine but like most of Spaghetti Incident it just should’ve never been made.

ew, i hate that version. the original is much better. you need chris on vocals!

you got that right! Axl has burned ALL of his bridges with his old band mates. magazine rumors are that he is working his way through alienating himself from EVERY musician out there. Although, Musical insiders tell a different story!

It’s also a real shame that they’re last album consisted of shitty covers

There were 3 or 4 solid tracks on that album Just off the top of my head…

Aint in Fun
Down on the Farm
Since I don’t have you
human being (Iffy)

which also had an ending about as bad as My World. Axl butchered Look At Your Game, Girl.

Oh now you’re just being absurd. Look at your game isn’t nearly as bad as some other ones that are on there…black leather, raw power, buick mcain, attitude BLECK!!!..

It’s not as bad as So Fine

That’s cause I don’t think anything is as bad as so fine!!

So What on GF isn’t as similar to Sphinctour as you’d think. GF was way heavier and Al was more into it. Plus he doesn’t say the greatest Led Zeppelin quote ever on Sphinctour.

‘So What’ on GF was the greatest, as was the ‘Supernaut’ version. I also preferred the ‘Reload’ 12" to FILTHPIG ‘Reload’.

The Sphinctour versions of all the songs featured on the album (apart from ‘Stigmata’ on the DVD) were weaker than their album versions, especially ‘Psalm’.

So What from 'In Case…" is the definitive version by a country mile to my ears, that hooting from Al is totally insipid. The song requires Chris.

And Test rules, and yes, I have skipped forward to that track, and yes, prologue_67 from this very forum hooked me up with a live version and yes, I love it. I think it fits very well on the album, which to me was always a glorious schizophrenic mish mash of styles, wherein lies its charm. Also, thanks for that Prologue, I don’t know if I ever said that.

Agreed.

The “So What” and “Supernaut” from ‘Greatest Fits’ are in my opinion the best versions of those songs. Anyone on this forum who hasn’t heard them should definitely give them a listen. Chris’ vocals may be best for “So What” but the original is dull and badly produced compared to the ‘Greatest Fits’ version. I was very let down when I finally heard the original. I think this is a case where you guys became attached to that version because you were fans, back then where I have a more objective view because I came into all this way after the fact. Or it could just be a difference in taste…And I like the hooting…

Yo MTV Raps inspired Al to screw up a Ministry song, in this case Test.

Test used to be that 5 seconds of guitar before hitting skip on the CD player. Failure occurred when “Yo…this is a test” is heard…didn’t get to the CD player in time.

Getting older and/or lamer because I can actually tolerate the song now and don’t skip it anymore.

WOAH! the spinctour version of the fall is probably the best performance i’ve ever seen by ministry! it’s the only version i listen to.
