You know i allway’s thought the song was about someone od’n in the studio as well then i read an old intervire here and it’s basically an eco-friendly song which makes it less rad. Also everytime i hear the intro i picture the kids pogoing from the live vhs
Forget Breathe though. I wanna know the story behind Nursing Home.
Always assumed it was Al’s 'Fear Of Dying" song.
That song can yank my balls any day of the week.
I always thought Nursing home was a shot at all the people who wrote off ministry saying their day was over or they were has beens or some shit.
Love All of Dark Side Not a DUD in the Disc I used to hate
Hate Bad Blood and Supermanic as recently as Last year or so but those two grew on me.I never really listened to the lyrics but I think that is what got me in. I still stand firm that those 2 tracks don’t fit with the whole feel of the album, though.
On any given day Eureka Pile, Step and Nursing home Are by far my favorite tracks off of that album… easily tied for 2nd place right behind the fall.
The Fall is Pure magic. That song is what I used to get my wife into ministry and she loves it. Might be her fav song of all time. It’s certainly mine. Man, if you put the Fall and Shove on Darkside and ditch Bad Blood and Supermanic, that would be the most perfect music Album ever. YES EVER. PELIGRO, I said “EVER”!!!
I don’t know who it was cause it was a few posts a go But I agree I liked Breathe straight away and I too heard that same story about someone Oding in the studio (actually heard that it was AL that Od’d) and that’s what mysterious unconscious dude heard as he came to.
I think all of The Mind is solid except for Test. Music is solid, Rapper is shitty!!! and I’ve grown overwhelmingly tired of Thieves. I know I still like it but I’m thinking I’m going to have to stay away from it for a year or 3 to get back the magic.

“Test” kicks ass.
“Breathe” kicks more ass than I previously thought.
“Never Believe” is the new weakest track.

I’d agree but I gotta put “Test” way down there. It really is a B-side if I ever heard one, and not even one from Ministry to be honest.
The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste
Brings back good memories that one. Getting stoned, drunk and eating pizza at 1am in my friend’s little flat out the back of his parents’ house. Middle of winter. Cosying up to the heater, the air heavy with the smell of chili and garlic (and pot!) and the walls of the flat reverberating to the sounds of Al Jourgenson chanting “Breathe You Fucker!!” and Chris Connelly’s shrieks of “So What”.
My friend’s flat was the kind of place where the walls (and ceilings) were covered with band posters (The Birthday Party, Butthole Surfers, Skinny Puppy, Throbbing Gristle) and there was always lava lamps and incense burning. I close my eyes now and I’m back there again. Brilliant times. I get so nostalgic for 1991 when I listen to my old Ministry records.
I haven’t seen that guy for years. Last I saw of him was back in 1997 and he wanted to borrow 10 grand because he owed money (possibly to drug dealers). Then he disappeared for 10 years. Nobody saw him until he showed up one day back in the old neighbourhood and started acting all weird (or so I heard). I believe he spent some time in a mental hospital after he tried to hold up a service station with a knife. Poor guy.
Don’t the years just seem to melt away. I’ll bet there are millions of stories out there that revolve around a particular album and the memories it brings.
“Breathe” is a great song… has a great beat + rhythm and was way ahead of it’s time in terms of discussing environmental degradation, and in a way that was not partisan, etc
Breathe 2011
“If only we had Democrats running Congress and the Senate we’d be able to breathe, you fucker!”

Lol, I was trying to say that it wasn’t totally preachy, in a partisan matter or what not, as compared to the 7+ years of BUSH hate material…
i think it (much like the sphinctour version of The Fall) just goes on and on to the point of brilliance
The song that is best for that type of thing is easily Time To Melt…I LOVE how it’s just about to wrap up…then keeps going! hahahaha
The problem with Test is that it has a dude rapping. The instrumental part of it is fucking awesome.
Bang on…the instrumental is brilliant and funky as hell.
If Schoolly D had of been rapping over Test it would’ve been Ministry’s greatest tune ever.
i don’t think ANY ministry fan actually likes test
hey gerda, what does paul think of that song? lol.
I like Test. TMIATTTT is my favorite cd. TMIATTTT is really a snapshot in time for me. It was the first time getting into industrial and loving it!

What’s worse? Ministry’s “Test” or G’n’R’s “My World”?

That’s no contest!! GNR wins for shittiest track. God that song is horrendous, the only thing wrong with Test is the vocals.

Wow Gunnar you just had to bring up the most nonsense ending to an album. Use Your Illusion 2 is easily the band’s best work (save for Breakdown and So Fine) but My World is just so random. I’m sure that’s one of the reasons Slash and the rest of them left.

I’m tempted to make the Smurf copy my CD and omit that track from it. It’s really jarring. I mean, I’ll forget about that wretched earrape of a song and just be driving around rockin’ out and then . . . “YOU WANNA STEP INTO MOI WOOORRRLLD!!!” and I feel so tricked. So victimized.
