BReaking BAd

Jesus this show is fucking beyond DARK
I’m about 5 shows into the first season… Not what I was expecting at all.

It gets a whole lot darker…season2 is when the series starts to take off. Great show!

It gets darker and darker and more suspenseful and brilliant…for me the best show on tv,hands down…

Darker? Good lord how is that even possible?
I guess I’ll see.

This is my favorite TV drama. No contest.
I kind of envy your position to watch it all for the
first time.

I first started watching it on DVD after I got my wisdom
teeth pulled. I was loopy on Vicodin and not going anywhere for a while
so one of my buddies dropped off season 1 and told me to thank
him later. I ended up watching the first four seasons in a month’s
time. If I was watching TV, I was watching that.

In my opinion it just keeps getting better. And it will always keep you guessing. Enjoy!

Oh, you have no idea…

Definitely the best show on TV now, but Walking Dead ain’t far behind. AMC is on the ball.

It’s kinda funny because I used to think Dexter and House were the best shows on TV. Dexter for being dark and House for being fun and funny but now both of these shows look like children’s programming compared to Walking Dead and BRreaking BAd.

I am glad I’m so late to BReaking BAd that way I get to watch a lot and there is no suspenseful waiting between episodes. I was always jealous of those who were way late to Dexter cause they could burn through the seasons and not have to wait.

I think Dexter is winding down, next season is the last season and I think they’re gonna make it an “on the run” season, LAME. Glad Walking Dead and Breaking BAd are so good it gives me replacement shows.

Hey on Netflix I notice characters drop the F-bomb at various times during the show… Does that get censored on regular TV or do they let it fly?

As far as AMC being “on the ball,” I guess we’ll see, they just fired/had someone else quit, another Walking Dead writer or director. the first casualty was Frank Darabount who was the one who developed and brought the show to AMC and his departure is the chief reason the actor that played Dale exited the show rather quickly.

I seem to recall some stuff getting edited early on, but not so much anymore. When your protagonists do the kind of things they do, bad language is probably less of a concern.

And yeah, those shows pretty much make Dexter seem kinda ridiculous in comparison. The wife and I are still watching, but it feels like it’s getting more and more implausible and hokey. It’s pretty much been downhill since Lithgow’s season. A funny thing to do is watch episodes of Dexter and Six Feet Under back to back and imagine swapping his characters in those shows!

We’ve been watching The West Wing lately. Never saw it while it was on, and I’m kinda surprised how much I enjoy it. Whenever Bradley Whitford is on the screen though, all I can think is “Sorry doesn’t put the delicious Triscuit crackers in my stomach, does it Carl?”

And if you’re a House fan, have you seen any of his old comedy stuff? We re-watched Black Adder not too long ago, and my wife hadn’t seen that show since she was a kid and didn’t realize that he was in it (well, after the first season anyway).

I was thinking more along the lines of the FCC rules not so much of the potty mouths of a couple of meth cookers

Well the lithgow season is certainly the pinnacle so far. the last season with tom hanks’ kid was not too bad. This season wasn’t as strong but it certainly had its moments… but yeah, I’m not going to be all that sad to see Dexter cancelled. It had its run and hopefully knows when to bow out, unlike weeds which stuck around for 5 seasons too long and south park that doesn’t even know its dead or does know its dead and is exploiting their fans I can’t tell which.

Never seen black adder but I know he’s a comedian so maybe I’ll check it out.

Black Adder was Rowan (Mr. Bean) Atkinson’s show, it was a historical comedy. Each season was a different time period but had the same actors in different roles. Very British, which can be a plus or a minus depending on your taste. Hugh Laurie was great in it playing an idiot though.

Well that’s kinda what I meant, I seem to remember the f bombs being silenced at the beginning of the run, but not anymore. But we don’t watch it live we download it, and a lot of the time when you download shows you get a recording from a Canadian affiliate, and I have no idea what their broadcast standards are, so really I guess it would be most honest to say that I really don’t have a clue haha. My point was if the FCC let’s the plot content through, why not the language. It is on cable after all, not NBC.

The show was censored on TV (f bombs, mostly). The DVDs were uncensored. Same goes for Mad Men, which also drops a few F Bombs from time to time. But, Breaking Bad is one of those shows that actually got better as it went on. Never lost steam as most shows do. Very long wait until July, although it still feels too soon for the show to end.

The series is ending???

Indeed… they split the final season into two. The first half was this summer, and next summer is the second (and final) half. Not sure if they’re calling them seasons or halves, think seasons. Season 5 doesn’t pull punches though. It’ll definitely go out with a bang. One show that doesn’t worry me about the ending. Possibly the only one.

Yeah, the show is ending, but multiple people involved with it say there are ideas and possible plots that have been explored behind the scenes that could keep it going. Possibly a movie? Also talk of a spinoff for Saul Goodman.

Since it’s on cable anyway, Breaking Bad is not governed by the FCC. The deal with the edits, in the pilot at least, is that the show was given extra time to show its pilot originally, and subsequent airings were a shorter cut, with no nudity and no curses, a scene or two chopped out I think. That’s the version on Netflix.

As for the cursing, the cable versions tend to drop the volume down for a major curse like shit or fuck, so you can hear enough of it to know what’s being said without hearing the entire word.

I own the DVDs. They muted the curse words on the broadcasts, and unmuted them for DVD. There’s a few episodes that are labeled uncensored.

I just picked up season 1 and 2 on Bluray for 20 dollars (10 bucks each) including shipping. I figure this show won’t be on Netflix forever. This is one I want for the personal collection.

I’m hooked!
What’s even more awesome is I don’t see that stupid malcom in the middle dad anywhere out of the actor. he’s completely reinvented himself which is an awesome talent.

Breaking Bad is one of those rare shows that starts awesome and just keeps getting better and better. There are several “holy shit!” moments that occur across the storyline, and the directions they go in flies in the face of traditional dramas. Easily one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait for the final half of the last season!
