Let’s discuss good music - going through a Bowie kick right now. Listening to “Outside” now…
Outside is a hugely under rated album and it’s one of the best he’s done in my humble opinion.
Black tie white noise and earthling are pretty damn good too…
Bloody Bowie shakes fist in frustration
Heathen isn’t too bad either.
I could have seen Bowie back in '94 , bloody coach broke down and we had to walk the remaining 15 miles to the festival site.
When we got there, Bowie was just finishing his set.
Gutted that day like you wouldn’t believe [pirate]
I’ll see him live again one day hopefully.
saw him twice myself…
top 5 (in no particular order)
Outside
Station To Station
Scary Monsters
Lodger
Earthling
i like Ziggy, Pin Ups, Earthlink, Heathen. Outside is kinda cool and has some neat stuff, but it’s too long for my taste.
Yet to really sit and listen to the last two albums (Heathen and Reality), but he’s got a lot of good stuff out there. If I had to pick five favorites, i’d probably go:
Outside
Earthing
Low
Station to Station
Ziggy Stardust
(fuck it…i’ll add another!)
Man Who Sold The World.
I think he’s newer material post-earthing is a little dry and weak, but they have their gems. I enjoyed Hours, but as for the last two albums, I could give them better listens. Should rip them tonight.
I saw this tour…The guitarist kicked ass for bowie (I believe he was from Tinman side project)…oh and so did Trent as the opener.
I’m a huge Brian Eno fan, and know he’s worked with Bowie extensivily on a few albums…are those worth checking out?
Personally I always liked the idea of Low better than the execution. I feel for Eno-produced Krautrock inspired Bowie “Heroes” is the better option.
The only Bowie album I’ve ever been a full on geek of is “Space Oddity”. Great fucking album. The sun machine is coming down and we’re going to have a party.

Without a doubt! Personaly my favourite period of Bowie.
Essentials: LOW, Heroes, Lodger(fav) and Scary monsters(actually no Eno on this? - close enough soundwise though)
Jump They Say from black tie white noise - by far one of the coolest songs ever made
awesome, thanks for the link!
I always had a thing for the here come the warm jets album.
i’ve said it before, and here i shall say it again, Bowi is the best musician alive. hands down. tom wiats is a close second, but seriously, bowie is a fucking mastermind.
i love all his work (save for segments of hunky dory, and a chunk of Oustide, seeing as it sounds like the young gods more than bowie at times.)
reality is an AMAZING album, one of the best i have ever heard.

- Outside is an album that could’ve been - but it ended up being a self indulgent, bloated mess. It’s as if he didn’t know when to say ‘STOP!!’. Sure there’s some good ideas there but it’s frustratingly overwrought and so self aware. Tries so hard to be artsy and edgy and ultimately fails on so many levels. I wish they could rerelease that album with all the fat trimmed.
Black Tie White Noise is ok, but hasn’t dated too well. On a side note, Black Tie is Bowie’s lowest selling album!
Personally, Low is by far my fave Bowie - one of the greatest albums ever made. Heathen is his best recent release.
I did say in my humble opinion…
I could listen to Outside and Earthling over and over[;)]
