I don’t think that assumption is correct. At least in Europe, even the majority of right wing parties, identify more with the democrats/liberals, specially with the current situation in the republican party. Of course we’re seeing an increase of more extremist right wing movements in Europe but they’re still the minority.
Everybody seems too focused on words like left, right, socialists, fascists etc. and forget what these people are actually doing or defending. There are countries in Europe that call themselves socialists and are among the most prosperous, wealthy countries in the world. On the other side, countries where the state is less prominent, have successful cases as well. The common denominator, I think, is Democracy. If the pillars of democracy and human rights are solid I think a country veering towards left or right can be as just and prosperous.
When I look at America I see this extreme categorizations; if you’re not on my team you’re my enemy. A word seems to matter more than actions and ignite senseless discussions. Common sense sometimes seems a scarcity in America and smart people, but without good intentions, are making a profit of it.
Me and everyone I talked to, and I mean everyone, look at your president and can´t believe how can anyone support such an idiotic person. More than idiotic, dangerous. He’s clearly a wanna be dictator. Some of your politics say the most stupid things, lie, one day say one thing the other day say another, are clearly defending their personal interests, yet they get a lot of support mainly because he is on “your team”. It’s unbelievable. Specially when on the other hand you have so many smart, intelligent, coherent people. I’m not saying that doesn´t happen here but it’s not on that level.
One other thing that all the people I know seems to agree, and now we´re talking about the other side of the spectrum, is the almost dictatorship of the political righteousness (i´m not sure if this is the right expression) Like wanting to ban everything that as a connection with racism or ban films with people smoking on them. Censorship is never a good solution. Never. A movie or a book or anything else it’s part of history, it’s part of art, it can be appreciated and it can, and it should, be discussed and understood. And it’s an important tool to know the past so we don’t make the same mistakes. Ban things is making the audience stupid and at same time stupefies them.

I do a lot of the music, yeah. Mostly drum machine and bass and then a synth line here or there and lately with the God Bombs new album I did most of the guitar as well. I don’t like playing instruments live as much because it hampers my ability to perform but in the studio I do.
