What is your favourite place to listen to music? Where can you let go, enjoy the subtleties of each track, click and pop and just plain indulge in aural sex?
For me it’s at home. Although it’s a somewhat isolating experience, it’s the best one sound-wise, beside actual live venues.
Aside from the occasional live event which trumps everything I really only listen to music in two places:
My car: And if I just bought a new CD that I really want to give a proper tasting to, I’ll go park somewhere secluded or sit in my garage.
My couch: I have a set of headphones that I plug into my PC so I can listen to my music at home without pissing off my wife. I really only do this when trying out a new CD.
Other than that ALL of my “casual” listening is done while driving to and from work or any other destinations.
My ipod is used alot. I use it when i’m on the way to work, at work, and so on. Even sometimes when I go to bed. Sometimes, though, i’ll leave my laptop on and just keep itunes on, but I don’t really like doing that.
I like to blast my jams at home on a really good stereo and secondly on my ipod. On occasion in the car, but I mostly listen to espn radio in the car because I’m a sports head
These days I only listen to music in the living room, huge speakers each with 18.5" subs. Otherwise I stopped listening to my iPod cause I want to be accessible to conversations throughout my day instead of being absorbed in music.
Headphones while walking so I can really immerse myself in subtleties I’d probably miss if listening casually.
At home. Unfortunately, I don’t own the best speakers although it’s okay. I appreciate nothing more than being able to relax between them with a good book and a drink listening to my favorite albums.
In the car. My faceplate is broken right now and driving has become a bore. I don’t want to listen to traffic.
