Alright you fucking drama queens.
Shut your whine-holes and give me your top albums of 2020.
Mine, in no particular order:
William Elliott Whitmore - I’m With You
Matt Berry - Phantom Birds
Jeremiah Sand - Lift It Down
The Mountain Goats - Songs for Pierre Chuvin
Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts V: Together/Ghosts VI: Locusts
Grimes - Miss Anthropocene
Lingua Ignota - Caligula Demos (I want to give the spot to Caligula, but that came out in 2019. I didn’t hear it until this year, though)
Katatonia-City Burials
Ulver-Flowers of Evil
Greg Dulli-Random Desire
Kool Keith-Saks 5th Ave
Blue Oyster Cult-The Symbol Remains
Bill Laswell-Against Empire
Run the Jewels 4
Bob Dylan-Rough and Rowdy Ways
Anything Dan Swano released
Todd Rundgren-Nearly Human(reissue)
And you just reminded me I have to check out that Jeremiah Sands album…the one track I heard was perfectly exactly what you would expect…I loved the film so I gotta grab the album…
The new KK is that good? I haven’t heard anything decent out of him in years. Even the Dr. Octagon sequel smacked of label obligation. Tell me I’m missing out.
Yeah Keith has been hit or miss over the last decade but the ones that do bang well they bang very hard…Saks 5th is really good as was ‘Keith’ from last year…he tends to spread himself thin and a lot of stuff that gets released is him rapping over other peoples productions…many of those are a mixed bag…but when he is more hands on with his own production there is always a higher degree of success…the Octagon sequel has a whole story behind it…with some of that material being released without his authorization…
That Covid Alice track is cringey. Good sentiment, but ugh.
His newest track is pretty good, though. Haven’t heard Alice wearing this much Beatles influence since the School’s Out album.
HAHA!!! That’s funny. I was actually approaching “Don’t Give Up” with a lot of caution when it came out because I thought for sure I was going to cringe out of my skin, but I ended up really digging it. The voice over stuff is pretty hokey and if I wasn’t already a huge Alice fan I’d probably have a more narrow margin.
The “Our Love Will Change The World” is VERY Beatles-y. Maybe that’s why I connect with it less, hahaha. Anyway, glad you’re checking it all out and giving his new stuff a chance regardless. Cheers!
I don’t have a copy of it as it wasn’t done on CD. Just vinyl. I’ll probably cave in and buy the digital and have someone smarter and more ambitious than me put it on a CD for me, haha. But what I heard was great. The new album (2021) is called DETROIT STORIES, by the way, and what I’ve heard so far is decent from that too. Nothing too radical or challenging, but solid straight-forward rock and roll. I think it was 2018 or 2019 when that last Hollywood Vampires album came out (“RISE”) but it was actually really cool. I enjoyed it a lot more than the first Vampires record which was just cover songs.
It’s hard for me to wrap my head around how prolific and energetic this dude is at 73, hahaha. He’s just unstoppable.
Ahhh ok…I am going to have to look into those…love the Coop,man!!!..I have everything from Pretties for You through Dada and then have a smattering of stuff after that epic era ended…fucking guy just keeps churning them out…what a legend…
Yeah I thought it was a really good record although not as strong as the one before it…I listed it more as an honorable mention…didn’t make it in the top list haha…
I forgot Body Count put one out. I liked whatever singles he put on YouTube from it. I think I’ll order that one. Honestly, Ice-T can do no wrong in my eyes. Fucking love that dude.

I look for this vinyl to be super rare, not sure if its still available.
Incredible story behind this release.
Can you imagine making/recording music 10/12 years old?
