Modwheelmood
Joy Division
Dillinger Escape Plan
Neubauten
Godspeed You! Black Emperor!
Griderman
Limp Bizkit
Korn
Yeah, the last two are jokes…really…I mean it…

Well, they can’t have let you down if you didn’t have much expectation for them to start with I suppose!
Grinderman… dont they only have one album out?
I am not sure if I have anyone to add to the list really…
NIN I dont think have let me down with a release… some might take a few listens but still solid…
Oh of course… Kyuss/QOTSA/EODM…

Yeah, Grinderman only has one. I was kinda joking when I did since I didn’t put Cave. Not a fan of the Nocturama album, kinda boring. After No More Shall We Part, I was kinda hoping for a little something more “upbeat”, which he finally did with Orpheus/Abbitoir(sp?).
I don’t like With Teeth, so I didn’t put NIN. Songs like The Collector, and a few others are just mediocre for Trent. He was trying to be “simple”, but perhaps a little too simple. Some good songs on there, but to me, to bad sadly outweights the good.
Only ‘band’ to have never let me down?
Been spectacularly awesome in every possible way each time and has never put a foot wrong?
Mmmm… tough one.
But I choose.
PROKOFIEV, GRAINGER and DEBUSSY.
Only two consistently innovative cunts that ever existed.
I’d say Anal Cunt but 110 Song CD doesn’t have funny song titles.
The Chameleons
Godflesh
Waltari
Ulver
Therapy?
Dredg
This is a very cool thread.
Alice in Chains
Nirvana
KMFDM
Minor Threat
Bauhaus
I’ll second Bauhaus, but that’s because I went into Go Away White with somewhat lowered expectations. Also, This Mortal Coil. And Foetus. And almost Bowie (Tonight, and Tin Machine I & II, and Never Let Me Down being the big exceptions, in order).

I know you’re a big Fields Of The Nephilim fan, which one was a letdown for you? Just curious.
Oh, and agreed on The Chameleons. Tough list, most of my favorite bands have let me down at some point (DM, The Cure, Ministry, SP, New Order…)
I guess I would add Joy Division, The Smiths, and Cocteau Twins to my list. Kraftwerk would be there if is wasn’t for The Mix and TDF Soundtracks.

That would be Mourning Sun, the most recent album. It is not a terrible album by any means, I enjoy it immensely. Nevertheless, it is simply not up to par with the previous releases when it comes to songwriting and production, with the latter being a particularly big problem for me since the band had very appropriate production on previous releases.
Fallen I obviously don’t count as an official release, its a compilation of unfinished demos. Zoon was a great album because it was different. The original trilogy is untouchable.
In all seriousness, a band/artist would have had to have existed for 15 years before being eligible for the ‘never let me down’ tag…
Nurse With Wound
Whitehouse (although Great White Death, Halogen and Twice Is Not Enough are LESS than stellar)
Kraftwerk
Faust
Boredoms
John Zorn (although does occasionally disappear up his own asshole)
Swans (and post breakup projects)
Napalm Death
Mick Harris (ND, Scorn, Lull, Quoit, Painkiller)
Coil (even BAD Coil is decent)
Brian Eno (I have heard enough of his output to convince myself of this…however to be honest I haven’t heard the albums that fans of his often disown/complain about)
Led Zeppelin (never made a bad album in 10 years…although had Bonham not died and the band have ploughed on, I’m pretty sure their 80’s output would have been drastically less successful - even to the point of parody)
Aphex Twin
Tool (haven’t made a terrible album - although to be honest I don’t count their pre-Aenima releases which do not interest me in the slightest)
I’m still waiting for Sunn O))) to fuck up. Another 5 years of excellence and they are eligible.
KMFDM
Really? You even like What Do You Know Deutschland? And you didn’t give up on them around 1999?
I was about to add Current 93 to my list, but then I remembered that I payed money for The Great In The Small. It’s not like David Tibet made it a secret what the album was (every prior Current 93 record played simultaneously) so really I’m the sucker, but still.
I like KMFDM “Deutschland” but don’t like lots of other albums by them and haven’t listened to any album post MDFMK.
Lots of 90’s stuff in there:
NIN
Deftones
Pantera
Nirvana
Dinosaur Jr.
Tool
Alice In Chains
My Bloody Valentine
Soundgarden (iffy on Down On The Upside)
TV on the Radio
Interpol
Also Barker Ministry/RevCo

Oh come on! ‘Go Away White’ is fucking fantastic. It’s definitely a grower, but listening to their albums back to back I think it’s by far one of the strongest.
Maybe that’s because I’m not biased since I wasn’t around when they had their initial run.
