I wondered why my surname was a thread title…

RIP J.G., from J.F.

1002

Fuck.

I knew he was ill and not long for the world but all the same this bums me out so much. Ballard has influenced me, my writing and music probably more than any other one artist.

This really fucking bums me out.

He will be missed by many as his influence was great, right across literature, music and film. Cronenberg, Joy Division, just some great artists to whom he was important to. They even have him on the curriculum in second level education.

He was in the process of writing a book about his own meanings of life, I don’t know if it was finished.

He got to a decent age I suppose, that’s something.

I read one of his books, a number called “Concrete Island.” Some guy has a car crash and falls into one of those places into between highway overpasses. Very urban(e).

rip. ballard always, oddly, reminded me of david lynch, but in print format.

RIP indeed. He will be missed and fondly remembered. In addition to “Crash” (of course), I personally found “Concrete Island” and “The Crystal World” his most engrossing and eerie works.

Y’all should read “Highrise” as well, it’s one of his best.

DOUBLE DAMMIT.

Wasn’t this dude the inspiration for PTP?

RIP, dude.

i flatter ourselves into thinking connelly and ed were the inspiration for ptp.

happy shakespeare’s bday. to all.

Just finished reading J.G.'s autobiography ‘Miracles of Life’. It was a great book to read. One of the most enjoyable and modest biog’s I’ve come across. It’s always great to know of a writer who is pretty down to earth and who has similar values as yourself.

Unreservedly recommend it.
