Back To Martin Atkins.............

That KILLS me, man.

The good news is that she’s still gigging!

I think she’s mostly only in London though, but I’m sure if you email her she could give you more info if there’s new material.

The ahem cage pieces are back, yours for a $50 donation.

For a grand and travel costs, he’ll DJ your wedding.

i’ve got to say that martin does obviously know what he’s doing, knows the industry, pushes his luck where he knows he can and makes his money. the whole music industry has revolved around fucking the little man (or band) over for years. so in someways martin’s opinion of himself as some sort of mogul is justified. but he still comes over as a complete twat, which is a shame, because i like some of the music he’s been involved with. in my experience (and it’s fair to say i have a bit), people like martin are the norm in the industry.

Martin Atkins is AWESOME!!!

Some of the reasons I love Martin:

  1. Selling pieces of the “Ministry fence” (probably just some random pieces of chainlink he picked up from a dumpster behind Home Depot) online for $100 or more a piece.

  2. Charging $50 to attend his seminars on making it in the music business where he will sell you his book on making it in the music business for another $50.

  3. Starting his own “School” where he actually charged kids $3000-$5000 tuition to “get their foot in the door” and “have hands on experience” in the music industry. What does that entitle the kid to? Well, they get to work for Martin (no pay, of course) . . . stuffing boxes, cleaning offices, printing T-shirts. Basically you pay $5000 to be an unpaid intern.

  4. I don’t know the details of all his dealings with bands and artists on his label, but I am certain he screwed them all with vigor.

  5. Going on Prongs, Piss Army, PB4PB, and other sites under the guise of a fan “just passing on interesting information” as he’d try to strum up interest for whatever latest crap he was selling on his website or ebay. These posts were pure gold.

I’ve never met Atkins and have no personal beef with him. He kind of gets a free pass on a lot of his douchiness just because of DUN DUN DUNDUN DUN!!!

Used Car Salesman? I don’t think so. Unless the salesman you’re familiar with sells you the car, then charges you every time you drive it, then steals it out of your garage and sells it back to you again for the same price (or higher).

Looking back at my earlier reply I realize that in some manner I’m trying to paint him in a bad light, but let’s be real here - the guy runs a record label. It’s business. How someone can run a label as a “businessman” and still find the ability to work full-time as a musician and not have them mixed together and creating anything other than chaos is beyond me.
It’s like mixing religion with “organized religion”.

That’s why most labels that any musician creates, it’s solely for his/her own music, or their buddies (i.e. Avalanche, Web of Mimicry, Ipecac).

HAHA!!! Martin’s new endeavor is pretty brilliant.

Regardless what you think of the dude, you gotta respect his creativity.
