Babyland

Worth checking out? What’s the deal?

Kim (Integrity) is into them and posted a youtube vid of their cover of “Pink Frost” by The Chills, which I really enjoy.

They seem kind of hit and miss from what I can tell, but I like the blend of punk attitude and industrial sounds.

Is there like one album that was really good?

Thoughts/stories on them?

Don’t know anything about them, but it’s hard to fuck up Pink Frost.

EDIT: Nevermind. I checked it out, and they seem to have found a way. Pretty dull.

Pretty typical '90s coldwave Re-constriction Records stuff.

Actually, I guess they were never actually on Re-Constriction, but it was that style. 16 Volt, Hate Dept., Vampire Rodents, that sort of thing.

I like em!

You Suck Crap is a good album. The only album of theirs I own.

I only heard one song by them called Omaha…was decent

Definitely worth checking out. Total Letdown was my first. Try Worst Case Scenario:

And a live version, because they were always better live:

Dan’s new band Continues is worth checking out as well.

Somebody just pointed out to me that Babyland has a major Big Black influence. Never thought about that before…

I got their 2002 EP recently for cheap. It’s good! It’s nothing I haven’t heard before, but it’s still worth a listen.
