The words of Uncle Al himself before as he hit the stage for the Austin show of the Masterbatour.
I guess I’m inspired by some of the Austin comments on wempathy’s post.
I went to school in Austin 89-94 and enjoyed the great music, including my first Ministry show at the Austin Opera House in 1990 (TMIATTT.) Through the years there also saw lots of great local acts including many nights at The Backroom slugging tequila and watching the Skatenigs and Skrew (fronted by Adam Grossman.) Emo’s was alright. Saw Chris C. play a show there in support of his first album… I think I was the only guy grooving to the music among some assholes asking him to play Ministry.
I have many fond memories of Austin and still make a pilgrimage there once a year to hang out with old friends and go see some good music, including the last two Uncle Al shows.
Austin was the site of the only Buck Satan performance (which BTW includes Preston Hubbard on bass Bisquit) and Al’s first Texas relocation (Marble Falls about an hour away.)
Besides carmagary, are there any other Austinites among us?
Cheers
