Just got back from the show. I wore earplugs this time and I can hear! Met Burt Bell prior to the show. Very nice and approachable guy. My friends and I were also given two boxes of peppermint cookies by a chick who turned out to be a ministry roadie. No, I never did hallucinate off these.
Mezzugah was good and they got the crowd jacked up. Nothing new to report with regards to the setlist, except they appear to include So What in their second encore rotation. The best tunes were Just One Fix and Thieves. JOF was sung by Burt Bell, but with a whole lot of energy and charisma. Big crowd response on that one. The fast bit of Thieves gets a mass agitation by the crowd. Alot of crowd surfing.
The last three cover tunes are so so. Not much crowd energy in these.
Lots of opportunities to get guitar picks and drumsticks. I picked up one of Tommy Victor’s.
Also of note during this show was Josh Bradford. While he didn’t participate in the music, he was present throughout the concert filming with a pretty expensive looking camera.
Al’s interaction with the audience was good and he kept on goading the crowd about the SXSW festival.
All in all, what could be expected from a tour supporting the last two albums. But definitely not a 2 1/2 hour show enxompassing their 30 year career.
Thanks for the reviews. There probably won’t be much to add by anyone until the 4-night finale in Chicago. You can’t tell me they’re going to play the exact same set all four nights (that’s the ultimate ‘FU’ if they do). Is there really that much demand for Ministry in Chicago?

1002
i could see it.
this just hit me… how funny would it be if they came out and played a fuckin 2 1/2 hour version of time to melt on the last night in chicago. now THAT would be a “fuck you”.
04/15 Austin - La Zona Rosa:
They played “Keys to the City” and the ‘new’ RevCo disc during the break. One of the songs has a similar strip club/disco sound as “Pole Grinder” and another was more industrial sounding. There is also on that mentions their names.

Possibly Chicago in demand of four shows:
House of Blues - Chicago is a 1000 person venue.
2 July 2006 was packed tight with people - and quite possibly sold out.
1 July 2006 was not as populated, but still pretty packed with people.
I pretty much had the same experience at the Austin show. I don’t have much to add. Hemlock didn’t play for “technical” reasons. There were no black and white balloons which bummed me out.
Al cameo out wearing his tophat and coat like at that old people show he went to when he sang the Beatles song.
Tommy Victor seemed to be the life of the show. He really interacted with the crowd a lot. I was impressed by that.
1st show in Chicago - Same set list (thus far)
2nd show in Chicago - Mind + LoRaH in its entirety live
3rd show in Chicago - Twitch + WaxTrax singles
4th show in Chicago - Original 1982-83 lineup for 10-12 songs then Barker and Connelly on stage for “Best of” Mind, LoRaH, and Psalm 69
It’d be interesting to see Connelly do So What? for one of the Chicago shows…for some reason I wouldn’t find it too surprising. It’s the end of ministry after all, so i’d figure he’s say “why the hell not?”. Could be just a dream, but a nice dream it is. And I don’t think that main set is going to be changing at all. Maybe a few switches here and there with the oldies, but I doubt there’ll be any or much change.
connelly doesn’t need the headache, nor would he be asked. if you’ve read his book, he has other things to do–like wash his hair(those he doesn’t have!)
I just wanted to ask if Sins guitar playing looks suspiciously off. Like he might be faking. I just wanted to ask cause a friend of mine went to the show and complained about it.
I was trying to grow my dreadlocks back for the chicago show, but…but…well they just keep falling the fuck out, and who wants to hear a fat bald 60 year old sing about “juvenile delinquincy”

a hoo hoo hoo hoo!
Get one of those Rasta hats with the fake dreads they sell at costume shops.
who wants to hear a fat bald 60 year old sing about “juvenile delinquincy”
About 1000 people per night, give or take a few hundred, pay to see it.
Some would rather a 49 year old fat bald guy sing all day in a fake accent about a cold life, misfit that will work for love and then get revenge, while others would rather he sing in distorted vocals about his days spent wacked out on smack, blow, and ethyl alcohol and the GOP.
I would like to hear ‘juvenile delinquency’ as it was meant to be heard live because the visual doesn’t matter as much as the sound. If the visual mattered as much as the sound, the bands/people that just stand stationary on stage and play their instruments would never make it.
