Atari 2600

I guess I got this in late 1980/1981:

You have the wrong controller plugged in for Night Driver. The joystick won’t work with it.

You need to use the DRIVING paddle.
Just sayin . . .

Horrible, horrible game that required its own special controller. The special controller, by the way, allowed you to turn the dial to the left or right. A game where all you could do is veer right or left and they need a unique controller. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Anymore screen shots you want to post up of any games are VERY WELCOME, by the way.

(The case/shelves are badass too, by the way)

Good stuff, my friend!

Yeah I know, LOL. I just threw one in to show it still works…the controller is on top…and BTW, they work.

I know most of those games, but I’m going to put in a personal request that you give us a full review of PORKY’S. I’d no idea that even ever existed.

Oh, and . . . . E.T. FTW!!!

(This just became my new favorite thread, by the way.)

Props for even having the black rubber sleeves still on the original joysticks. We usually lost them because we’d use them as suction cups/ plungers and be sticking them everywhere or popping each other in the face with them (or pretending they were our wieners).

I still have my atari games all accessible too!! ha ha

you have some games I’ve never heard of … what was that frankenstein? and what was the object of Porkys? was it a sex game? There is no way I woulda got that game I was 4 and 5 years old in 80 and 81

Me too…was my favorite game for a while. You had to move the joystick side to side to run etc… The big controller on the top of the pic worked really well.

I loved the after-market joysticks for Atari. I mean, it was always a stick . . . . and a button. So there wasn’t a whole lot of room for innovation. All they could do was make the stick look cool and maybe put the button either on top of the stick or in front like a trigger.

It always seemed a little strange to me, though, as none of that was an advantage for best physical control. The only innovation they could have done to actually help your game play would have been to super glue the controller to a large heavy base so I don’t have to hold it tightly in my crotch or between my feet for stability.

Took a couple of screen shots. The Frankenstein game isn’t working. :frowning:

Porky’s…no clue how to play.

In college one of my friends found her Atari set and we had this huge plan for an Atari-Party! We were gonna just have a marathon of fun and gaming with the classic console.

Ohhhh! Let’s try this one! Crap.
OK! Now this one! Crap.
What about? Also crap.

Our Atari party became a “no-one-gives-a-damn-about-Atari-party” about 20 minutes after starting . . .

There were some really cool and playable games for Atari, but revisiting 99% of them is really tedious.

I did rip one of them off. I would bit the top of the joystick…maybe out of frustration…and it finally came off (still worked though). Then the button stopped working. I took it apart and the pressed the sensors…that didn’t last long. You’ll notice the two joysticks look different…I replaced the one that eventually broke.

Thanks for taking a shot of Joust. I remember that game (yes, even the Atari version) being pretty darn playable. And we played the ever-living crap out of DEFENDER.

Dude me too. Another big favorite.

Cool…gonna give it a try.

I have a 7800. Moon Patrol and Galaga were my two favorites. Still can’t believe they managed to screw up Pac-man as much as they did.
