article from barker on leaving ministry

i’ve never seen this but it’s an article with quotes from paul talking about leaving ministry and why he left http://www.vh1.com/artists/news/1484541/20040122/ministry.jhtml there you go enjoy

NICE!!! Thanks!

the splits a little weird because when he first left, both of them said nothing but positive things about each other in interviews. al always wished him the best and no hard feelings. i wonder what went wrong between then and now. it was a quite a difference when i got al to sign my inner dark side pic.

maybe this has been covered, but i never knew the reason.

I liken Al and Paul’s split to my most recent break-up. The week my girlfriend was moving out of the house, we were very cordial and friendly to one another, because that made life easier on the both of us. Then, after she was gone, there was a short period where people around me wondered if we’d ever ‘work together’ again. As time went by, I remembered all the shit that built up over the years and had led to the split, but now I realize she’s just another fucking bass player.

maybe, but since there was a recent lawsuit, i suspect there’s more than that.

al & paul’s split came after twenty years of co-songwriting, touring, travelling on the same tour buses, dealing with new and newer management, moving from one state to another with their families.
sounds like the split was more a divorce than a breakup.

Man… from now on, EVERY ex-girlfriend I have will be referred to as such.

I always kinda figured that he wasn’t happy, but still stuck with it for as long as he did. And when he father died, he reaccessed his life (like many do) and came to the conclusion that he was done. He doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy to hold grudges, and I doubt he does for whatever reason. I just think in the end he was just ready to call it a day. There’s so many possible spins to that, and we certainly know Al’s, but in the end we all know where the two ended up. Haven’t heard USSA, but I figure if paul’s still making music and happy doing it, that’s all that matters, right?

If there was ever a guy who didnt look happy in Ministry it has to be Rey Washam. Man that guy looked pissed off half the time.

eh, i don’t think Paul was unhappy the whole time at all. But it’s like this - you have a friend/business partner/co-worker/whatever that you have to cover for all the time - he’s too fucked up to keep his shit together, except when he does get it together, he’s a prick to all around him.

Even if you love 'em like a brother, at some point you are gonna be tired of putting up with it. It’s to Paul’s credit IMO, that he hung on til Al kinda got himself together (as it is) and didn’t just drop the fucking ball in '96 or '99.

ah yes… someone has their eyes open…

here’s a question, especially for the chicago shows:
do you have any friends or any friends left?
