Hahahaha, that is great! My FB pic is the cover of that gay Danzig/Rollins comic, so funny. I lved Rollins’ reaction, can’t remember where i heard about it, something along the lines of “Uhhh, has Glenn seen this? Because i guarantee he won’t be happy”. Anyway, i don’t think Danzig needs to lighten up to be honest, if anything i hope he gets even darker haha, that’s part of the magic of it all, that he is so deadly serious. I really am incredibly excited to hear this covers album, and i hope i get to see a show from the tour!
Dude. I’m sorry I wrote my diatribe before seeing this post. But yeah, I’m glad we’re both on the same page here.
also people can get knocked the hell out, even mike tyson. thats just life.
Yes, it is true. Anyone can get knocked out.
This is why most people don’t typically shove others (especially taller, larger, tougher others) and shout, “F*** you! Motherf***er!!!” and then wait for a large windmill punch to send us to meet the Sandman.
i feel that whole bit was a bs promo stunt by that northside band.
Yeah, that makes sense.
“Hey, Bluto. I got this great idea for some viral marketing. Make sure Danzig screws us out of our set time and then ask him about it. He’ll be sure to flip his lid and shove you aggressively. Just bop him one and he’ll drop like a cut redwood tree and we’ll be famous internet stars.”
I’m with Gunnar on Danzig 5. That was exactly my reaction in '96 (or whenever it came out).
BUT
You might try listening to it again now that it’s 15 years later. The record is front-loaded with the pseudo-industrial stuff, but a few songs in there are some pretty awesome tunes where he uses his classic vocal stylings.

Come to silver is the only listenable track on that album… even 15 years later.

i’ve only heard the spooky acoustic version of Come to Silver from Lost Tracks, great song, i must give blackacidevil another shot, i’ve only heard a wee bit and thought it was a bit of late bandwagon-jumping, but i’ll certainly give it a try again. The man has a one in a million voice alright, he has become a real musical hero of mine.
While i remember, Violent Fire from Thrall/Demonsweat is such an evil, amazing track. Sayng that though, i could probably go through most of the albums and pick dozens of amazing tracks. Even Kiss the Skull, which i laughed at because it sounded so like Marilyn Manson, it’s fucking brilliant.

Both versions are equally good in their own right.

Never really thought much of the Thrall Tracks. As far as amazing tracks, Devil’s Plaything still does it for me twenty plus years later. Hell the entire lucifuge album still does it for me. He will never top that album, never!

See I didn’t think blackaciddevil sounded like generic industrial at all, thought it sounded like the first 1000 Homo DJs 12", the one with “Apathy” and “Better Ways”. Weird dirge keyboards and I don’t think Al did anything else like that except “The Fall” and “World” which are two of my favorites. blackaciddevil is one of the only other things I’ve heard that sounds like that (though not quite as good).
I thought it would have been easier if Glenn had done something that sounded like KMFDM, you know industrial that metal heads can dig but instead he did this weird ass shit and killed a lot of his fan base.
It’s not a horrible song. It actually has a decent groove, but, come on. This was done already . . . by many others. This video just makes me feel like Danzig drank some Boone’s Strawberry Hill and woke up the next day deciding he wanted to be Trent Reznor.
Grumpy: “Devil’s Plaything” is absolute perfection. I adore the songs where it leads in with a sweet beautiful melodic part and then he just unleashes Hell. “How the Gods Kill” is another example of this at its finest.
Took us 15 friggin’ years to finally get it again with “On a Wicked Night”.
Oh yeah, Devil’s Plaything is just phenomenal, as is On A Wicked Night. I’m really into his ballady tracks, Blood and tears and especially Sistinas are brilliant songs. Her Black Wings and Tired of Being Alive give me fucking goosebumps they’re so great. Killer Wolf, holy sheeeeeeit, hilarious and yet so cool. The video makes it even more cool, especially when John Christ comes out onto the porch and puts his hands on the railing in an imposing fashion, hahaha. They all look like such bad-asses. I just love it, the whole macho posturing they all do, the slutty women he has all over the place, the “Ah’m the kaaaang woo-oolf” (he don’t scratch at no door). Sorry if i seem to be blowing my load over little Glenn, but i don’t really have anyone to talk to about how amazing he is, i don’t know anyone else who likes the stuff as much as me!
I listened to the albums in order (on the way home from a Rammstein show of all things) , loved the 1st one, then Lucifuge fucking blew me away. I was thinking “holy shit, even on the first listen this is one of the greatest albums i’ve ever heard”. Then i heard How The Gods Kill and it went straight into the top 5 albums i have ever heard. Oh my God, what an album.
Regarding Lucifuge, the only tiny complaint i have is that it ends with a song that, while great, falls short of the massively high standard set by the rest of the album. I think if they swapped Pain In the World’s place with Girl it might be better, but as it stands it’s pretty much perfect anyway.
If I had to make a Danzig mixtape of my favorite tracks, it would go something like this:
Snakes Of Christ
When Death Had No Name
Killer Wolf
How The Gods Kill
She Rides
Not Of This World
I Don’t Mind The Pain
Anything
Her Black Wings
Let It Be Captured
Crawl Across Your Killing Floor
Sistinas
Tired Of Being Alive
Lilin
but i don’t really have anyone to talk to about how amazing he is, i don’t know anyone else who likes the stuff as much as me!
This statement here makes me think you ARE Glenn Danzig

Excellent album to be sure not, as good as the fuge though. The title track and Sistinas are among my over all Danzig favorites though.

The end doesn’t bother me. But I am curious as to why Long way back from hell and snakes of christ are on there. Those two songs don’t fit with the rest of the album.

in some shots reminds me of wish, but that’s because of the angles, the leather and the hordes of crazed fans. that’s where the similarities end. i had to stop it during the first chorus because it was so unbearably unlistenable.
Yep. You’ll notice whenever he photographs with the bitches he’s always gotta have 'em on their knees or sitting down or crawling. Otherwise it looks less tough when he’s trying to scowl menacingly up at their ass cracks.
