EXCELLENT!!! I would hope I could keep it together to not completely crap myself, but I really don’t know what I would do if I saw Danzig in person. Probably crap myself.
You know. . .he was so jovial in his response that I almost went over and asked for a picture.
Alas, unlike Icarus, I did not want to fly too close to the sun.
Also, I remembered that I am tall and he’s a little troll. And he would have probably said no once I was standing next to him.
But seriously, it was pretty damn funny. I was totally shocked by his response.
Filter had a good set list focusing on their heavier material, but they had sound issues. The guitar was out for half of the first song. And the new bassist isn’t a good match either. She’s a jazz bassist, so she doesn’t play hard enough to match the material.
I got there halfway through American Head Charge. They’re whatever. I saw Combichrist a few years ago and they put on a good show, but they’ve changed a lot since then. Basically a goth metal band now. They’re dropped most of the electronics. And yeah, we split before Korn Chamber came out.
Merch booth was huge, but I didn’t pick anything up.
She was a little out of place, but she was smokin hot! They had sound issues last night as well. Simply not loud enough, especially in comparison to Combichrist who were so loud that I had to walk out. Met some dude named Conrad who I thought was someone from here incognito, or maybe Avalanchers. He was wearing a Sunn O)))) shirt and we also talked quite a bit about Ministry, Godflesh and other related bands. Cool dude. Also bumped into the ex boyfriend of this chick I chased after several years ago. A little weird, but not the least bit surprise that he was only there for Combichrist and their wannabe black metal show.
I thought Coal Chamber were awesome. Dunno if I’d put them in my top 10, but it was good for what it was. Kinda wish they payed more attention to Chamber Music, but the Regency Ballroom (formerly known as the Grand Ballroom) has been known for having shows end early. Show ended around 11. Then I finally met radio DJ Nikki Blakk from 107.7 The Bone. I only say finally because I’ve known her younger sister for years. I also got invited to some club where a member of Clan Of Xymox is DJing. I will only consider going because the invite came from a cute old school death rocker who’s also DJing.
On a side note, American Head Charge were so bad that I was beginning to wonder if I had just payed $30 bucks to get into a show that would’ve cost $5 about 15 years ago. Singer got a little pissy when he didn’t get the crowd response he wanted. Their drummer also reminded me of Rey Washam on Sphinctour when all he had on was a button up shirt and shorts (so one redeeming quality I guess). In fact, American Head Charge were so bad that they should open for Ministry. No I’m not hatin on Hanzel Und Gretyl, Godflesh, or anyone good that may have opened up for them in the past, but I don’t see much of a difference between AHC and Pitbull Daycare.
Apparently Comedy Central did a roast of Danzig?
How did nobody mention this here before now?

EDIT: This isn’t real. But it should be.
I was tremendously sad to realise a couple of days ago that this was an April Fool’s Day joke. Damn it!
This covers LP is supposed to be strictly Elvis songs. Glenn Danzig rules & Tommy Victor chose wisely pairing up with him rather than stay in the decaying rot which is Ministry.
Danzig net worth is almost 20 million…impressive for an artist of his stature.
At least Tommy Victor doesn’t have to worry about being short-changed by Danzig…I read somewhere that he still hasn’t been paid for his services rendered to Ministry recordings and tours.
Uncle Fucknut has a long history of dicking people over…Martin Atkins, Chris Connelly, Max Brody & Bill Rieflin come to mind…oh but there’s so many others who got shafted by this leather-clad wanna-be outlaw.
From now on, I shall refer to him as Uncle Miser or Uncle Two-Face…I prefer the latter, lol…

“impressive for his stature” and “short-changed” really got me. I think I’m getting your sense of humor.

Ha Ha Paul…Barker, that is [:P]
“impressive for his stature”
True. Dollars per inch, Danzig is probably the most successful artist to date.

But what about Little Donny Osmond?! Actually, i’m not sure how that would work, as his body grew, his popularity diminished, might need some sort of mathematical equation to work it out.
Our friend Glenn is [url http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/glenn-danzig-to-appear-in-upcoming-episode-of-ifcs-portlandia/]going to be on Portlandia this season.
Sweet!
I wish he’d put out that long awaited covers album instead, though.

Why he would subject himself to such a shitty show is beyond me…
I’ve never seen the show, but i might download the episode or watch it on youtube. I wish he’d put his new stuff out too, his Elvis EP, covers album and his own new album of his own material. He loves to take his time, that guy.
I never followed the PORTLANDIA show or even watched a full episode, but the clips I’ve seen on YouTube are pretty hilarious. I love the asshole bookstore people.
That really is quite out of character for Glenn to be on such a show. I’m really looking forward to it.
But, please, God. Don’t let Glenn develop a sense of humor. Please don’t. It would break my heart into 666 pieces. It really would.
Yeah, Glenn has always been so much more awesome because his po-faced response to all humor. I don’t want him “Mr. T-ing” it and start making goofy jokes on TV about his image, would be very sad.
What’s next . . . an Old Navy commercial with Michael Bolton?
The guy in Portlandia(Fred Armisen) is in a new show that I find much funnier…it’s called Documentary Now on IFC channel…it spoofs celebrated documentary films…each week is a new fictional documentary…funny shit…
Lots of musicians have done guest spots on Portlandia. Jello Biafra, St. Vincent, Joanna Newsom, Kim Gordon, kd lang. The one with Aimee Mann and Sarah Mclachlan was fantastic.
I only watched the first couple seasons of Portlandia but eventually found it not to my liking. I thought the humor needed to be a little more scything; what I saw just felt like the writers couldn’t decide whether they wanted to pay tribute to some quirky alt-culture phenomenon or dismantle it. I’m a cranky old man, I need for my comic mockery to go for the jugular.
I’d imagine Danzig will get the same kind of play-it-safe treatment, careening back and forth between “laughing with” and “laughing at”. So, basically a reprise of how he was portrayed on ‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force’ years back.
