Anyone read the Claypool novel?

I don’t know, reviews seem rather polarized n theres people from both sides of the Claypool fence on both sides of the novels fence so I’ll probably just have to go drop $6 at the local Barnes&Noble n develop an opinion the old fashion way.

still though… i’m curious if anyone’s read it and if so, without spoilers, can u compare/contrast it to any other fiction works. Overall I’m not expecting much, I’m feeling a lil bit of a “Michael Jordan playing baseball” vibe but hell, I’m not losing anything by reading it. If he can convey his demented, shtick-y social commentary thru text as well as he does w/ his tunes I’ll bite.

No, but I read Nick Cave’s first novel and, while I liked it, it was clearly written by a tweaker.

My wife read it and said it was a quick easy read although the topics aren’t light. Easy read on heavy subject matter.
illegal activities and boats.

I quite enjoyed it, although I’m a fanboy. I’ve been meaning to re-read it for a few years but I never set the time aside to read.

It’s a pretty quick run, entertaining for its purpose and if you’re a big enough fan you’ll catch song references/similar coincidences. Go ahead and grab it, kill a couple weeks with it.
