I have a few friends who were once part of the whole scene. The shaved heads, the crossed hammer tattoos, beating random people up, etc.
Spent many a nights being subjected to Skrewdriver, Bound For Glory, RaHoWa, etc.
Even got roped in to going to some shitty ass ‘concerts’ with everyone chanting and throwing up the Sieg Heil salute.
Ugh.
But they are all grown up now and tell me constantly how much they regret it all, and how much of their lives they wasted. Not to mention the cost of getting all the tats covered up.
You’ll be there too one day.
I think a lot of us go through a certain degree of that idiocy when we’re young. It’s less about the ideology, and more about being intentionally aggravating to parents, teachers, neighbors, etc.
Once someone is an adult and still wrapped up in that crap though . . . they either wise up and join humanity . . . or they become legitimately scary and unredeemable.
In high-school I had a big wake up call when my friend and I took a train down to see some guys he was buddies with from some skinhead gang. They pick us up at the train station, we jump in the back of their truck, and the first thing one of them says is, “Let’s get drunk and beat someone!” Later on, we’d gone off with some of the mellower dudes from the group and were hanging out at one of their apartments (his mom’s, haha). I’m looking at a bulleting board and there are all these newspaper clippings for a “racially-motivated” murder that one of their homies was on trial for.
That was enough for me. Done. No more. No thank you.
Unless Years is 15 years old and still trying to find his way (I don’t think he is) I really feel sorry for him. I hope he one day pulls his head out of his ass and realizes how stupid all this crap is.
