sure, like the last 2 cd’s.
The only good things he was ever involved in was Badmotorfinger and…maybe half of Louder Than Love.
Audioslave is a record execs wet dream. Crappy middle of the road, adult oriented rock with deeper pretensions. Perfect fodder for Hollywood shlockbuster soundtracks.
As somebody else said…they are fucking loathsome. I can’t believe that the modern day Chris Cornell is the same guy who sang Slaves And Bulldozers!
was bored and just found snippets to two different new songs that are just as bad. complete with him saying “is this speaker on” in the beginning like an eminem record or something (i like eminem but wtf?). just do a search for cornell on http://thomascrownchronicles.blogspot.com/
the tracks are “ground zero” and “watch out”. now i must go throw limo wreck/4th july/mailman on the record player to wipe these sounds out of my head.
These songs are quite atrocious. The ground zero song is so irritating you want to punch someone after hearing it… and what is it anyway, a bloody 9/11 song or something? The other one may as well be some gimp on one of these “talent” shows. I mean whats next? Chris gonna do a special show for Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul (though I would have given her a good show in her day). This Timbaland person is also working on a new album with… yes thats right, New Kids On The Block. That sounds more promising.
I’d more likely get excited over a New Kids On The Block album these days than ANYTHING Chrissy-boy Cornell spits out. He’s a fucking joke. I can’t believe people here are actually giving him props. Soundgarden, even at their zenith, were average at best.
I wonder what the other members of Soundgarden think of him now? Hmmm, Kim Thayil goes on to work with the legendary Sunn O))) and Chris goes on to work with…um…Timbaland!!
Interesting.
Chris Cornell is the Mariah Carey of hard/seattle/rock!
Do you mean that he will fake a nervous breakdown to detract from how poorly his most recent work is being received?! Way to go Chris!
All the cool Wahington State bands are from out in the boonies…
I’m from Australia…and I have no idea what this means. But it sounds interesting.
I love love Soundgarden. DOTU is highly underrated. I only listened to euphoria morning a couple times and many years ago, but I think it was pretty good? I’ll have to download it and listen. Audioslave was boring. 2nd album was okay actually, and better than almost any other radio rock. Havn’t followed him since then, really confused by this whole timbaland thing. I’d love to see him live though, for the old soundgarden tunes, and just for the fact in his prime he was one of the greatest singers.
Now he needs to bust out big dumb sex.

The reason I compare him to Mariah is that both of them have an impressive vocal range but tend to abuse their talents to the point of sounding downright melodramatic in my opinion.
Boonies is a term for smaller towns out in the country, or in this case the woods, away from major cities. Equivalent terms would be “po-dunk” or “out in the sticks”. I just find the Washington State bands that came out of the smaller towns somewhat more interesting than the ones who came out of Seattle, with the possible exception of Alice in Chains and Screaming Trees.
Boonies = The Wops
Boonies = The Wops
Is that what they call it in English slang?
In America “Wop” is a derogatory term for an Italian. I was told that the term originated from the days of Ellis Island when American was letting in massive amounts of European immigrants. Apparently, you needed papers to determine if you had the proper head size, physical health etc. The term Wop meant “with out papers” and was used to make fun of the Italian immigrants entering this country. Of course this may not be entirely true, does anyone out there no for sure?
Ahhh, gold old classic American racism, before the blacks got their rights and the white Europeans were all dissing each other left and right!
