I decided that I should rock out this year so I bought a crappy old Pearl Forum Series drum set. I don’t know how to play the drums but I guess I will learn. Are there any good magazines, books, videos that can help kick start my journey? Right now my game plan is to just go for it and rock out and see how it goes. I have a nice shed so I am going to move it out there and hopefully not disturb anyone while I rock hard.
You can get some drum tablature from guitar pro 6 (or 7 or 8 i dont know what version theyre on now) files. I dont know how to read drum tabs but im sure you tube vids can show you how
There is a good bit of drum stuff on YT. Drums are REALLY loud btw. Your neighbors are gonna love it.
I stink as a guitar player, partly because I don’t practice much in part due to time but the last few years, I’ve developed arthritis in my hands. The only good thing is, I can keep the volume low on the amp and my neighbors aren’t punished with my crapyness. If I want to get loud on the rare occasion, I’ll crank up the distortion so you pretty much can’t tell if I suck or not. Just lots of loud distortion.
You could always get an electric drum set. My buddy is in a band and he has an electric drum set for home/practice but has the real deal for gigs.The electrics are nice. you hook up em up to an amp or headphones which means you can decide how loud they get or you can play them with no amp at all if you just wanna bang on shit.
I drum. Not so much these days…

Ya know, that’s kind of my attitude as a “guitar player”. Hmmm… I’m sure I can stink just as easily on drums too. I wonder if it would be easier on my hands?
