Found this on avalanchers. One woman band from Iraq. I only kind of like this bc the subject matter isn’t very popular in BM. The music and production is fucking shitty. Worse production than Darkthrone in the 90’s.
Where does she currently reside? If she’s still in the Middle East that’s a pretty bold statement.
Also, Eureka Pile, have you seen the documentary “Heavy Metal in Baghdad”? If not, check it out. It’s awesome.
I think she’s in Baghdad. I think I have seen that doc. Did the dude interviewing used to work for mtv?
that’s pretty fucking crazy. she lives in iraq? i have a feeling her story isn’t going to turn out well…all the power to her though!
mhmm, i’ll definitely check out that documentary gunnar. i’m iranian so anything middle eastern related always piques my interest.
I don’t know if any of the crew used to work for MTV. “VICE” magazine produced the film. It’s really an emotional story.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it. The band ended up playing a gig for uninterested ppl at the end. They’ve also been forced out of rehearsal places bc of the terrorists.
Yeah, that sounds like the one . . . their studio/ practice place gets bombed, they flee to Syria and Turkey towards the end. Some of the gigs they played people were so joyous to have someone playing metal for them.
It’s pretty badass what they all go through and how metal is their anchor that keeps them together . . . somehow.
I don’t remember if the band was any good but it is a good doc. I remember them being influenced by mainstream bands which is kind of a letdown.
The band is called Accrassicuada or something. They weren’t that good, and I wouldn’t be interested in them one iota if it weren’t for the great back story.
They sound like a pretty bad garagey version of some death/black metal band. I cut some slack as it’s hard to judge too much on technical merit when you’re gear is blown up and you never know if you’ll have power to plug into or even a place to play.
I admire and identify with the band’s passion and spirit, but I certainly wouldn’t call their music great or even “good” for that matter. I’ll try to find some clips later.
