Probably already been posted about, but I saw an interview with Al in… Revolver I think it was, the one with Phil on the cover.
They asked him about barker, his response was along the lines of :
Basically, I was on lots of drugs and didnt know what was going on. When I got straight, I wanted to do things my way, (and focus on bush) and barker realised he couldn’t get to do what he wanted anymore/have as much input as he previously did, so he left Ministry.
seemed different to the usual “just a f****** bassist” line…
He’s probably changed his tune at the advice of his lawyer. If you are suing someone for destroying your reputation from a business standpoint, it probably isn’t the best idea to turn around and bash their reputation publicly.
On a side note, go back and read Paul’s interview with KNAC (on the interviews page). He totally sticks up for Al when they are clearly trying to bait him into commenting on Al’s drug issues. This speaks volumes to me on Paul’s character.
Revolver: How do you feel when fans say MEGADETH’s best lineup was you with drummer Nick Menza, gutiarist Marty Friedman, and bassist David Ellefson?
Mustaine: Well, they’re entitled to their opinion, totally, and if they’re talking from a music point of view, that’s understandable, because there’s only been one record so far with the new lineup. But what they have to realize is that I sang almost every single note of Marty Friedman’s guitar solos, and I wrote the majority of Nick’s drum parts, and I wrote almost every bass note that Ellefson played. It’s just a matter of these guys getting into the groove.
Poor Dave. Is he really a born again? Or is this how rumors get started? Kinda tuned out on him when turned into “wierd” Al does Heavy metal with that “sweating Bullets” Songs. Although, I like at least one song On that album “forclosure Of A Dream” was really good. although, I can’t think of any other songs that stand out I guess maybe “symphony of destruction” but really I’ve always thought that that song was kinda bland.
Oh well I still think Dave is king of the heavy metal shredders I think he put’s teMallica to shame. The only songs that can hold a candle to Megadeth are “One” and “Master Of Puppets” maybe “Harvester Of Sorrow”
I’m sure that will start A WAR. Anyway…

Sweating Bullets must be one of the most hilarious videos ever made
As for Megadeth, I could just never really tolerate Dave’s vocals - so atonal and generally grating, lol.
Musically they had a lot of interesting moments though, I’ll have to give them that. Still, compared to something like Coroner, they are mediocre in that respect as well.

you should check out some Primus videos for funny! the starting of “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver” is hysterical with that guy ordering nachos “Steamy!” “Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver” and “Mr. Krinkle” are pretty funny too!

I like Daves growl. It reminds me of a roided out version of an Axl Rose voice. Maybe it’s the orange hair? IDK

never heard of “Coroner,” but if it can keep up with “Rust In Peace” I’m sure they’re worth a listen.

the difference is that Primus was trying to be funny while the Megadeth video is probably unintentionally funny.
Here is a Coroner song for you: http://rapidshare.com/files/84677270/01._Die_By_My_Hand.mp3
Its from the album No More Color released in 1989. Mental Vortex, from 1991, is even better, and their final LP Grin sounds so modern even nowadays that its scary. Coroner is usually considered to be the most underrated thrash metal band ever and I for one agree with this (well, they share that definition with Anacrusis actually).

Oh . Ha, there-in-lies the difference.
