[reply]Or at least his twin brother…

Saddest thing ever.[/reply]
Did I miss something?
twin brother?

Gallagher’s younger (look-alike, but not twin) brother went on tour for awhile as Gallagher Too, doing Gallagher’s older bits.
He claimed Gallagher 1 gave him permission, Gallagher 1 said “No I didn’t” and sued (or threatened to sue - I can’t be bothered to look it up) so Gallagher 2 stopped doing it.

HAHAHAHA!!!

Yeah, I can’t remember all the details of it either (or be bothered to look it up) but that was it in a nutshell.

Gallagher’s brother was touring as Gallagher 2 with the EXACT SAME SCHTICK and EXACT SAME COSTUME (thereby ensuring that almost everyone paying to see the show actually THOUGHT they were there seeing the original Gallagher).

Bro’s claim, I guess, was that Gallgher 1 had sold him the act or gave him permission for it or something.

I probably will get around to reading about this later as it’s one of the most moronic capers/lawsuits ever and will provide a good way to spend my lunch hour.

Gallagher gave permission to his brother to performed as Gallagher 2, only problem was that #2 was commanding more money and touring a lot more than the brother, so essentially there was a line that was crossed because #2 was becoming more and more popular than the real thing.

They eventually went to court, but it was too little too late: I think #2 had been performing for something like five years straight before he was court-ordered to cease it.

Gallagher has actually turned into a total asshole these days, I dunno if it was due to the falling out with his brother or just old age. I’m guessing the latter, based on his interview with Howard Stern around 2008:

He IS a complete asshole.
I’ve had a few run-ins with him and I can testify to this.
He’s a terrible person now, and no longer funny, AT ALL.

His style of comedy became unpopular and he got bitter about it, is what happened.

I’ll read that later, but as someone who was a HUGE Gallagher fan back in the day, and then saw him perform around 2005, I can tell you that aside from being a bitter old ass, his other HUGE problem was that he had written no new jokes.

Watching Gallagher 2005 was SORT OF like watching Gallagher 1985 only he had 1/10th the budget. 1/100th the passion, 1/1000th new material, and 1/10000th the likeability. It was honestly uncomfortable and awkward to witness. I’ve never seen a man so hateful of absolutely EVERYTHING around him (and an audience which was PAYING him to be there).

I hate him.

Has anyone seen Dice’s latest act? He is on fire, yo…he rips into the current status quo of women behaving like mega-sluts in current daze like an inferno magnet!

Dice was never politically correct and will never be politically correct. This is partly the reason for his gutt-busting humor…no fear nor does he have any inhibitions.

You moan and groan at his jokes and he’ll tell you the fuck off until you piss ur self laughing. Dice is a living legend.

Keep ur eyes peeled for his latest comedy special…he’s hosting a stand-up event on Comedy Central and has a new movie coming out with his old pals from tinsel town…dats right Mofos:::: ENTOURAGE is coming to the silver screen!! [;)] [:)]

not a fan of Dice or Kinison’s style comedy but lately I’ve just started getting into Dangerfield and Rickles…hilarious even if it’s safe.

They’re both great. I’m a big Mitch Hedberg fan too. I think I prefer safe humor. I’m not easily shocked and don’t really find it entertaining to prove edginess to those around me, so without the “Oh my god, did he just say that” component, there’s not much to laugh at for me.

I got nothing against the dirty stuff, but too many times a lot of the “dirty” comics seem to use filth as a crutch. They know that if they drop a bunch of f-bombs and talk about sex and weiners and vajayjays that there’s a large populace that will clap and howl no matter how lame the joke.

Despite him being a rapist, Bill Cosby was an amazing comic back in the day. Don Rickles is awesome! Rodney Dangerfield was hilarious!

I like Jim Gaffigan nowadays, but it’s hard for me to think of other “current” comics that I actually dig.

Did anyone else watch the Justin Bieber Roast, by the way? I thought the three standouts were Will Ferrell, Shaq, and Martha Stewart, actually. I suspect Shaq and Martha had writers and I’m sure part of the novelty is that we don’t expect them to be in that position, but they were way better than the so-called “comedians” on stage.

Mitch Hedberg is one of my all time favs as well

didn’t see the bieber roast but heard those 3 were very funny on it

Hedberg was great.
He was kind of a stoner Dude version of Steven Wright.

Hedberg was awesome! Sometimes I can actually relate to some of his nonsensical humor.

Otis Lee Crenshaw was another one I liked, but I don’t think he does standup anymore. For those who don’t know, he was a musical comedian.

Hey Gunnar, how are Ya, Bub!?

The Justin Bieber Roast was loads of fun…he was actually very funny at the end there…Kevin Hart ruled as usual, Snoop Dogg was classic as usual but I gotta tip my hat to Natasha Leggero…she definitely stole the show whereas Chris D’elia was somewhat of a disappointment leaning on the Isis bit too heavily…Kevin Hart said it best, “you were dark, bro!” Lol…

What’s his face…the roast master Jeffrey Ross is always great but he seemed a lil restrained this time around…the poor guy gained so much weight in the past 6 months…he’s like a 3XL now…he’s always up & down though.

Anyway, that was definitely one of the better roasts and yes, Martha Stewart was totally fucking fantastic as was Shaq…goddamit he’s so fucking big…did you see the footage of Shaq next to Kevin Hart…I though he was gonna devour him like the jolly green giant! LMFAO…

That was honestly my favorite moment of the entire show.
Kevin was throwing punches at Shaq’s knees.

I’m not even sure if I saw Ross’s part now. I was skipping through a lot of the intro junk, but tried to watch everyone’s part. Either Ross was completely forgettable or I never actually even watched it. I’ll try to catch it again (it’s still on my DVR, I think).

Gaffigan has been my go to for the past several years. I like Lewis Black too although his past two specials haven’t really been that special. Gaffigan’s last special was pretty weak too, though.

That roast sucked.
