Andrew Dice clay / Sam Kinison

Almost as good as this Mike Tyson performance.

Can’t forget about early Denis leary .

Can’t forget about early Denis leary .

Leary is a tool (and a thief). Kinison by a mile, and he did come up in the same scene as Bill Hicks. So, why not Hicks?

Leary got a bit tedious after a while.
Unfortunately, I think I can say the same for all of these guys.

Bill Hicks, I think, had his legacy and career both magnified and preserved by dying early.

If Gallagher had died in 1988 he’d probably be remembered as a giant among men.

Or at least his twin brother…

Or at least his twin brother…

Saddest thing ever.

All of the aforementioned comedians are/were really talented, with the exception of Leary. He made his bones essentially taking Bill Hicks’ act and watering it down to a Joe Everyman version of it, with little to no substance or bite. I think he is aware of that, too, seeing as how I know him more as an actor than a stand-up.

Kinison and Hicks were great at pointing out the absurdities of life, and making one question why we as a human race are so silly and arrogant.

Dice, well…technically he’s a performance artist. You can’t get any more far removed as an individual than a Jew impersonating an Italian bully on a corner in Brooklyn - smart people and dumb people love his comedy for two completely different reasons, so that in itself is kind of interesting…

All my chips are on Hicks. Brilliant, sardonic, hopeful and just all-out truth.

Bill Hicks forgot that comedians are supposed to be funny.
He’s better in his current persona as Alex Jones anyway.

Sam Kinison was a favorite in my household. That Married With Children episode where he’s Al Bundy’s guardian angel is priceless, as well as his appearance on Tales From The Crypt! Sad day when we looked at the paper to find out he was dead.

Alex Jones couldn’t imitate Jimi Hendrix if his life depended on it…

HAHAHAHA!!! I’d forgotten that “Married With Children” episode. I think it was called “It’s a Horrible Life” and it was a loose parody of the “It’s a Wonderful Life” movie.

As I recall, Kinnison comes down and shows him what his family’s life would be like without him, but of course they are all like 1000% BETTER and Kinnison just tells him to kill himself.

Holy crap! What a great show.

Rev, sometimes I just wanna hold hands with you and skip into the sunset.

I’d be interested in seeing Alex Jones imitating Jimi Hendrix as long as it was just the bit where he choked to death on his own vomit.

He doesn’t really go full on “OH OH!” until the end when he’s talking about haunting his wife. He said something about putting a donut in front of her to where she can’t reach it.

“YOU PIG! YOU SLUT! OHHHHHH!”

I think Kelly turned out to be a brain surgeon or a nuclear physicist or something.

That’s probably what he would do if he tried…

Wasn’t Bud a total nerd?

I don’t remember. But in following the formula he was probably not only super successful but a total ladies’ man/ chick magnet.
