Amanda Blank "I Love You" (For Fans Of MIA/Santogold Etc)

I just bought Amanda Blank’s debut “I Love You” as an xmas present for my 16yr old neice and thought I’d be sneaky and wack it on my ipod before I posted it too Oz.

Anyway the album is an excellent Pop album that sits nicely along the likes of MIA and Santogold. It features producers that created alot of the MIA/Santogold music…Switch, XXXChange and MC Spank Rock appear on it.

I first heard Amanda Blank spitting an insanely good rap on the Spank Rock song “Bump” from their album “Yoyoyoyoyo”.

The girl isn’t just a good rapper though…she also happens to be an excellent singer and artist…she also happens to be friggin hot with ALOT of attitude! hahahahaha!!

Check out some songs on her myspace…(Lemme Get Some is great…“I ain’t introducing you to MIA!”)

Also do check out her great rap on Spank Rock’s “Bump” below too…

This won’t be to everyone’s liking but if you like good Pop music that’s quite raunchy this is for you. (green death)

I got this album when it came out and I still listen to it. Pretty much every track is good and some are freakin’ great! Pitchfork clobbered it but they’re pussies.

honestly though, who really listens to reviews from sites like pitchfork? 9 times out of 10 it’s a long rant from some failed musician or wanna be musician who’s been spending all week writing down witty comments and just kinda strings them together with a few about the band in question to impress the invisible wall of “fans” out there

except if it’s a review of the new jet cd then it’s just a pic of a monkey pissing in it’s face, or some nonsense

They’re refered to as Pitchdork on the Melvins forum.

For good reason too.

Although I agree that Pitchfork can be off a lot, a good chunk of what they love turns out to be quite good and I wouldn’t find out about it otherwise. So basically, I don’t put much heed in their negative reviews but will sample something if they rave it heavily. That’s what turned me onto JJ, and they’re awesome!

The reviews of albums I was interested in that I found on pitchfork are usually way too critical. I rarely check them at all but I don’t put much stock in their opinion either.

I’m as inclined to listen to pitchfork, rolling stone, spin, stereogum, etc as I am to listen to somebody who works at guitar center
