This thread escalated fast. Good job everyone. I squinted and read it as “All Day” video and got my hopes up.
My exposure to Ministry videos came years after my introduction to their music. Can’t comment on how much impact any of the clips had on reeling in new fans. I agree with Queer Bait on the quality of the 88-92 clips. The grainy fast cuts with the stock footage fit the aesthetic really well. Even though I was getting into Ministry and the WaxTrax! thing way after its decline, looking back on all those H-Gun directed videos makes me nostalgic as hell. Everyone seems to be having lots of fun.
I’ve always liked the Peter C. videos for Ministry and NIN and most of the H-GUN stuff."over the shoulder’ really has a full, almost movie-type vibe with kids stealing a car and all that, it just works.
Dammit, I miss the 80’s. I’m of the belief that everything should be Mad Max style all the time, everywhere, for all eternity. In fact, I grew up looking forward to nuclear anhiliation because we’d finally all get to wear our leather and spikes and drive around in our modified dune buggies.
Somewhere along the way we lost focus, made friends with Russia, started putting away our giant missiles, and became a big global bunch of pussies.
Rev: Can you give me some references or song titles to look up for the Tom Petty and Don Henley examples?
Yeah, the Tina Turner one is obvious, but doesn’t really even count since it was the theme song FOR the movie “Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome” which she (and her tits) also starred in.
And “California Love” (Tupac and Dre) . . . about 10 years later than the rest, but still awesome . . .
The Tom Petty video was You Got Lucky, and Henley’s was All She Wants To Do Is Dance.
…and there’s always Tina Turner’s “We Don’t Need Another Hero”, in case that wasn’t mentioned

Thanks! That Tom Petty one is pretty cool.
I can’t find the Don Henley one anywhere (I’m not too sad about that, though, as the last thing on my priority list today was to watch a Don Henley video).
Check this one out . . . . it’s like a Mad Max / Lord of the Rings 80’s low budget cheeseball hybrid (and yes, I do love it).
