I got my CD from 13th Planet today (along with the 2 cent Santa Hat). Despite having to pay the $33 for this, I have to say Al’s solo material is the most intersting thing he has done since Filth Pig. Scaccia’s guitar work is very intersting. It’s nothing like anything he has done before. I never heard League of Blind Women, but I imagine this might be a similar vibe.
Give it a try and be open minded. I think you will be surprised like I was.
How is Walkie Talkie?
This is the only League of Blind Women song that I’ve ever found on YouTube, though I’ve found a few other samples somwhere (I can’t recall where, though).
It’s really cool. Mike is best known for his super fast radical metal but he’s actually a REALLY versatile player that can cover all styles in a unique manner.
Available here digitally for way less than $33.
Sounds like Al’s drunkiest work to date.
I’ll get this out there: “Voices In My Head” is good. It’s also got potential to be irritating though I haven’t played it to that point. This might be the first time in recent history that Al’s cited an influence and it’s shown in the music (he mentioned listening to The The in an interview a while ago and the jangly guitars and melody sound like that band). Echoing the love for Scaccia’s work here.
“It’s Always Christmas Time” still doesn’t do anything for me. “Walking Talkie” is good, need to spin it a few more times. I’ve ascertained from this thread that it’s a cover, so how does it compare to the original?
So, if it’s a cover, then who was the original artist for “Walkie Talkie”?
Walkie Talkie is my least favorite. The liner notes state that Al wrote it, so if it is a cover, I am not sure who wrote the original.
I really like Voices in My Head. The lyrics are extremely repetetive, but the music I really enjoy.
Once again I expected to be underwhelmed but actually see some potential there.
All three would be far better if Al had hired a producer to remind him that he can actually sing.
can someone tell me what this is? Is this Al post-Ministry? Side project?
(along with the 2 cent Santa Hat)
Best part of the review.

It’s a small “solo” project that Al’s been tinkering with post-Ministry.
Since Ministry’s supposed end, he’s released about 47 new CD’s of material and remixxxes under the Ministry name. He’s also had a couple tracks under his solo moniker and two “Buck Satan and the 666 Shooters” tracks.
Thanks. I know of the over-compressed “remastered” covers. Given his not-so-past record, I never would have thought he’d be capable of releasing something original. Guess I’ll have to find a copy.
Someone earlier posted a link for some cheap downloads ($3 for all three tracks, I believe).
The Buck Satan tracks were linked through Blabbermouth . . . there’s a thread on here somewhere where you can find it.
You might find some snippets on the Ministry Myspace that you can listen to for the Alien solo stuff. I know I’ve heard little clips, but haven’t purchased anything since “The Last Sucker”.
Alien Christmas is a 3 song CD released by 13th planet that are numbered and signed by Al. Also included is a zebra prints Santa hat that was advertised as a Buck Satan Santa hat. It was a total piece of shit that you could buy at any party supply store.
I am a collector, so i wanted the actual Cd.

Seriously? Didn’t the Santa hat at least have some logo on it or say “Buck Satan” or “Merry Mixxxmas” or anything?
That’s REALLY reatrded if all they did was buy a bunch of crappy 5 cent surplus hats to throw in with the CD pack.
Wasn’t there supposed to be a shot glass too, or am I thinking of another package they were offering?
Oh, and I would LOVE to see a picture of this amazing hat if you can post one.
I second the santa hat pic request. Such masterpiece should not be left unnoticed.
Thanks. I know of the over-compressed “remastered” covers. Given his not-so-past record, I never would have thought he’d be capable of releasing something original. Guess I’ll have to find a copy.
Oh, he’s still perfectly capable of releasing original material.
It’s just not very good is the thing.
Though I still have hopes for Buck Satan. I’m a masochist.
