Al & Trent

Is it April 1st?

I seriously hope the collaboration includes “Laid, Paid and Played” with Fergie.

Al’s probably being a bit premature. He does that.
Also, lots of people SAY they’re working with Trent. Remember the project he was supposedly doing with Gary Numan?

Wayne stole Al’s dreads so Al stole his face tattoos.
I guess they called a truce and will now smoke a doobie and make a wubbity dubstep hip hop record together.

All of this will probably happen around the time the new Pailhead and Lard albums come out, or that collaboration with Joey Jordison he mentioned a few years back. I can’t see any of this really happening though.

Well, as long as we don’t have to suffer anymore Slipknot mashups . . .

I hope Al and Trent do a cover of “[url “http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9e157Ner90”]Missing You” - it’d be dedicated to the Book Club and Chris Vrenna, of course.

That is truly bizarre. Have to say, if it happens, it probably has the best chance of being someone I will like from Al these days. I’m just don’t have a big taste for metal any more.

I seriously can’t see Trent doing a metal album.

Sounds cool but I’ve heard a lot from Al that hasn’t come true. The Trent thing is probably a go…[:)]

Jesus that’s good! I’d just been wondering a few days back if that proposed collab would ever happen. I was a huuuuuuuge Numan fan back in Junior High.

If it’s going to be anything like what Al has been putting out lately I can’t imagine Trent putting his name on it.

While watching the video I found this:

I had never seen this video before.

We all know how Ministry influenced Nu Metal bands but it would be interesting to have a deeper look in how early Ministry is seen by this new synth pop acts.

I looked it up. Trent’s not on that, but Robin Finck might be.

So basically what will be foisted upon an unsuspecting audience is a remixxxx of Supernaut and Lil Wayne rapping over Test.

dingdingding, we have a winner. haha.

Jourgensen: textbook illustration of ‘give an inch, take a mile’ . If I was Reznor with a new album around the corner & the promotion/publicity machine that’s part of that process, I wouldn’t even acknowledge Al’s comments. This is a venture that would risk him losing fans if skimming over the EchoingtheSound forums is any indication of the antipathy music fans have for Al today. There’s enough nostalgia being mined for this new NIN era. This isn’t needed.

If those fans are petty enough that they’d stop listening to Trent over a possible side-project then i’m sure he can do without them. They ought to be more concerned with the shit music he’s been producing for the past near-decade, and i say that as a fan myself. I’ll listen to anything he puts out, but i don’t think it’s that inspiring these days. The Fuji show was astounding in parts, and i’m looking forward to seeing them later this month, but i think this album could be another “meh” album, sadly.

I’m not expecting it to reach the heights of his 90’s output, however based on the strength of “Copy of A” and some of the out-there songtitles on side two (which is a stretch of optimism, I know) I think this could outdo anything since Teeth. An awkward statement to make because that was an album where he tried to find his footing, with very mixed results. I anticipate this sounding more confident than anything he’s produced since Fragile with nothing groundbreaking per se but with simply one solid song after another.

I’m definitely looking forward to it, and i always hope for the best from Mr Reznor. I’m hoping the show in a couple of weeks is gonna knock my socks off! I really enjoyed With Teeth, and found something to enjoy on each release, i didn’t feel like his heart was in it on some of his stuff for the past few years maybe. Well, hopefully he’ll be back on form this time round, The Fragile and The Downward Spiral are two of the greatest albums i’ve ever heard, so i try not to hold him to that standard for every release, haha.

Jealous you get to see them again so soon, Mr Carton. Closest date is LA in November but things happening in my personal life would make it very difficult to attend that show. The promise of extended touring into 2014 will see another opportunity alas I always feel like fans get a purer experience early in on the tour cycle…

If introspection is partially what you look for in Reznor’s music then it seems this new album will have it in spades. Look at some of those song titles on side two: “I Would For You”, “While I’m Still Here”. The songs we’ve heard so far bring back the first person approach he tried so hard to shed on the past few albums - including the Ghosts collections. I don’t see this as a bad thing.
