KAMALA better do an amazing job!
Biden said he wasn’t going to seek a second term, and there’s plenty of skepticism about him even finishing four years.

There’s talk of Biden pardoning him for his crimes to try and heal the country and I would think if that really is a viable option they better write a caveat into that pardon that he doesn’t run again…
Although, i think he may not be able to run again because I imagine he will be pretty well broke (I think he already is) and while he may be pardoned here in the US I think he’ll be ensnared in the world court. he literally owes countries money. I think that’s why he’s so desperate now. 4 years won’t matter because the damage to him will be done. What worries me is I think his style and his behavior will become the norm out of the right. So, while trump won’t run again his personality will.

Lowelly, I’m just curious, what state you are in.
I have to admit that I’ve really been able to cushion myself from Trump and Anti-Trump stuff this year. I was already turning off notifications and blocking people and such on FB, but in this so-called pandemic, I’ve mostly been holed up in my house and haven’t interacted with much of anyone except my wife. We just stick to ourselves and don’t care to talk much about politics (though by default we’ve probably discussed it more this year than any other year, haha).

Anyway, I’m really grossed out to hear that about your psychologist and it doesn’t help my outlook on them in general. But if she’s been overall helpful, that’s good. I’m sure even psychologists have shit days that seep into interaction with their clients. But yeah, at $200 an hour or whatever they get paid, I’d hope they can at least put their petty socio-political shit on the back burner while tending to a client.

Over all, I agree with your sentiment about just doing your job… but you really think this is petty? This isn’t just disagreement on policy out of trump this him fundamentally changing the country, this is him shitting on civil rights, this is him breaking law after law. I Still think George W is a war criminal but that pales in comparison to what trump has done and is doing. I think it’s worse because W destroyed other countries while trump is destroying this one. I wouldn’t classify open corruption as “petty.”

I hear suggestions of “crimes” . . . are there any actual pending or new CRIMINAL cases that would open up after he leaves office?

I’ve not heard of this.
He borrowed money from other countries?
Is that just normal pre-Presidency business stuff or campaign related (which I would think would be a conflict of interest regardless).

It’s an interesting possibility to ponder and I wonder.
I do see the loudmouth non-apologist dickhead as a bit of an archetype that is idealized now, but I think it will be pretty weak going forward. Trump was really a unique case (I hope, haha) and I don’t really think we’ll see a massive increase of GREAT VALUE TRUMPS in his wake.

We’ll see…

I don’t think real talk and concern over such issues is petty, so maybe my use of the word in that comment was a bit clumsy. I think it’s petty that people put their own emotions and need to dump their cries and cares on others without any interest in actual two-way exchange of ideas. So, while I think political issues are important, I rarely find value in discussion of them because the higher the need to tell others, the lower their ability to listen or respect the other side (I’m talking about both sides and not condemning one over the other).

But yeah, my slap at the psychologist had nothing to do with any actual substance. I probably should have used the words “selfish” and “unprofessional” instead.

If I went for legal advice and my lawyer who gets to bill at about $300 / hour spent more than 2 minutes bitching about football or LA traffic I’d have the same complaint.

Well, he’s a tax dodger, so New York is actively pursuing that. You have the Emoluments clauses that he’s being breaking since he took office. You have least 2 active sexual assualt cases pending… I’m not sure if he’ll be personally liable for the kids in cages at the boarder… there’s a list of shit he’s up for prosecution as a private citizen.

Yes he did so as a private citizen before he took office. From Deutsche Bank and the Bank of China and I believe Russia… His loans are coming due.

I think you could be right. It suited trump and was part of his appeal. But once he’s out and light is shined on the shit we don’t know about… it might be more of a hindrance.

I hear ya’. I totally agree, too. So, yeah, if not “petty” certainly not on topic and what you paid for. unprofessional definitely .

I’m watching this interview with Obama now.
It’s pretty cool. Definitely makes me miss the guy.
I don’t agree with everything he says, but I’ve always loved his style and his openness in speaking to other people.

An excellent interview. It prompted me to order his new book due out tomorrow.

My hope is that once the states start certifying the election results that the Republican leadership will start calling for Trump to concede and allow the transition to commence. They are going to need at least a month to fully clean and disinfect the White House.

Based on the Emails that trump is blasting out to his base I don’t have a whole lot of hope for that to happen.

New York. In the shadow of Manhattan, more or less.

If the session was more expensive, I would have been firmer about her letting go of the subject, but I talk to her once a week, and nothing much was going on in my life anyway. And she’s usually great. So she gets a pass. And a Schrutebuck.

My wife goes to therapy. Her therapist said since Trump was elected there has been an upsurge in people seeking therapy. At one point she couldn’t take on any new clients.

That has been the case where I’m at too. The psychologists I know said there has been a dramatic surge in therapy patients over the last 2 years, and quite a few have to stop taking patients as well. Even scarier, where my wife gets her birth control, the pharmacist says she can’t keep anti depressants in stock and quite frequently have to send people to other pharmacies because they’ve run out. (She said as far as she knows, it’s a nation wide shortage.) she said it’s been like that for about 2 years. And then then when Covid hit and the stay at home orders came in it got even worse.

I don’t care to scroll through everything, and don’t even know if it was in this thread that we were talking about Al and his “Antifa” song, but I was just watching this video where he babbles on about Antifa. He literally says the organization has been around for HUNDREDS of years, hahahahaha!!!

Al is so burnt…

He’s like your drunken buddy who thinks he’s got some deep profound knowledge and just HAS TO share it with everyone around him at the party. You’re like, “Oh, fuck, he’s doing it again” and you try to pretend you don’t know him. Shit, maybe I AM that buddy sometimes, haha. Anyway, it’s hilarious that people got (and still do) so triggered by that song.

I’m that guy. After three drinks, my friends like to say I’m in the “Professor Lowell” stage. Don’t ask for the names of further, more terrible stages…

HAHAHAHA!!! I’ve caught myself slipping into “that guy” mode and apologizing to my wife for it. I’ll babble on for 15 minutes on a rant about small businesses and free market economics and corruption and free speech and suddenly see that glazed look on my wife’s face as she’s long tuned out and probably thinking about dinner or something. I’m like, “Shit, I’m sorry.” She’ll then remind me that all she did was ask me a simple question like “Is our Governor a Republican or Democrat?”
