Some surprises, some expected. I was hoping to hear more technicalities about the albums.
As much as I love the pre-Twitch material, The Land of Rape and Honey really deserves to be at the top of the list, and I’m glad Al acknowledges that. This is just a phenomenal record. Al claims some songs date back to 1981, but the earliest is actually Hizbollah from 1984, followed by Abortive from 1985.
At least he’s taking an honest look at this. The whole “newest album, best album” thing gets old after a while. Animosity was actually a pretty good album and the tour was a lot of fun for me! The surround DVD version is fun to listen to as well.
Yeah I love Animosita…and that was by far my favorite Ministry concert…or at least my favorite set list…
Except for With Sympathy of course.

Thanks for the link. There he goes again ripping With Sympathy and using the word “abortion.” Didn’t write any of the songs? The record company forced him to cut his hair? Please.
He released Trax Box! last year which is basically an admission that songs like “Revenge”, “Work For Love”, and “Effigy” existed before he was ever signed to Arista.
It’s just the same old scene with Al…
However, on reflection Jourgensen says it may not be totally without merit. “In retrospect, because of that record I wouldn’t be who I am today. So I’m thankful for it now. I’ve finally come full circle. It still doesn’t mean I’m going to listen to that fucking drivel, but I am going to appreciate the overview, of what it’s done for me as a person in my career. I didn’t put it on this list, but I will give it an honourable ‘fuck you’.”
Does this mean he’ll sign it for $500?

Yeah, that comment about the label forcing a hair cut was super lame…
Interesting that Al can suddenly remember DSOTS 17 years later, but forget all about Relapse which came out a few years ago…
A bit disappointed to see Twitch get such a low position, but Al’s reasoning of it not feeling like his own work is entirely valid, despite how good it is.
And LORAH definitely deserves its top billing, considering Al is right about there being nothing else like it at the time.
I dare say Uncle Al is making some sense here. Never thought I’d be able to say that.

I’d have liked to see the Revco albums included as well.
Yeah, that is weird. Maybe Al’s putting in a good word for Dark Side because he’s hoping more people buy the recent vinyl reissue of it.
Interesting comment on Cover Up/Undercover: “The label gave me a list of songs to choose, but Lemmy from Motörhead got the same contract before us and he cherry-picked all the good ones for his cover record.” I’m curious to see what Al considers “the good ones,” but I can’t find any reference to a Motörhead cover record actually existing… anyone know what it’s called?

I found this on wikipedia in the aftershock album section:
In an interview with Classic Rock Revisited, Lemmy was asked about the possibility of the album consisting of all covers. Lemmy said that it had been discussed and that “it would be fun to do”. He further noted that if a covers album would be made, the band’s varying musical tastes would ensure a diverse track listing.
As a side note, the covers that I have heard motorhead do:
Whiplash
Hellraiser
God Save The Queen
Shoot Em Down
Are all phenomenal.
Fuck Al.
Fucking asshole fuckhead.
The end.

Looks like Motorhead had several records reissued by Cleopatra, but none of them were a covers album. Maybe they just never got around to it.
Fuck Al.

Simmer down, Gerda.
If we’re on the subject of Motorhead covers, it’s rather refreshing to hear them do tunes from other metal bands. Like when they covered “Breakin The Law” or “Enter Sandman.”

They did a nice cover of AC/DC’s It’s A Long Way To The Top as well.

HAHAHAHA!!! I was just flipping through the board now that I’m back at home on my own couch. I was in Mexico this past week and after each night’s bender I seemed to have found my way onto Prongs to go straight drunken rage on something.
And, yeah, venomous haiku does ring very Gerda-ish, doesn’t it?
i thought he fuckin hated Dark Side. Glad he ranked it so high.
