Cool! Did you take these Wemp?

Cool! Did you take these Wemp?

I found these on the Club 950 Facebook page. I do recall stopping in briefly during the festivities. Ironically, I was starting a day job the next day so I just popped in for a few minutes and left. I hadn’t had a regular day job in almost 3 years at that point.

awesome…thx!

Cool find! Thanks for sharing, Wemps!

that’s pretty cool, and this question is a little off topic but you might know Wemp, when did Paul come into the picture? and why… I know Reiflin was involved in the first revco album and I guess through him met Paul? , but after reading Chris’s book I’m really at a loss as to why most of this happened. In all these years I have never heard the Paul vs Ministry origin story.

Paul and Bill used to have a band called The Blackouts. They put out an EP on Wax Trax called Lost Souls Club which Al produced. The Blackouts also opened for Ministry on the Twelve Inch Singles tour. Paul came into the band in 1986 on the Twitch tour, and the rest is history.

ah feel like I should remember that and kind of do, but there’s never been much I guess “fan fair” over it… it’s just like “well hydrogen meets oxygen and we get water…duh…” and once oxygen left hydrogen you get methane…know what I’m sayin?
really should’ve paid attention in science but …

She wanted certain specifications…

:DDDDD

If I may expand on EP’s reply which is accurate but incomplete…

Al met Patty in Boston around Christmas '82. Patty was already managing the Blackouts who had relocated to Boston. I rejoined Al and Stevo in Boston in January and Al and Patty were a couple at that point.

I seem to recall that Lost Souls Club was recorded in the Spring of '83. I don’t think that Al returned to Chicago after WS was completed, even though we’d already started rehearsals in Boston, actually in Cambridge.

The Blackouts opened for us a few times summer of '83. By this time Al and Patty had been together for awhile and Al had worked with the Blackouts.

Great information, thanks wemp!!

Yes thank you kindly Wempathy

Wow…Al’s hair seems to be already well on it’s way to falling out in those photos???

Those looked like happy days…I bet he didn’t think he’d be shifting over a million copies of a record less than 10yrs later.

When I mentioned that Al didn’t come back to Chicago after WS was wrapped up, I meant that he didn’t come back right away.

The more I think about it seems that Al stayed in Boston for a awhile, this is when he worked with the Blackouts. Mark and Brad stayed in Boston because they lived there. Stevo and I, both Chicagoans, came back around May.

Everyone was in Chicago by the end of May. Al and Patty rented a coach-house on Clifton near Wellington. Cate & I were already living at 3222 N. Clifton, just a couple of blocks away. We resumed rehearsals about the first of June, at Metro. That lasted about a month before the first show.

Thanks for posting these. It’s cool to see rare shit like this.

That’s what I was thinking. Either it’s messy or the lighting or his hair really was thinning like crazy. It didn’t look too bad in the Fix movie though.

Cool pics! I love Al’s hair in those lol. Very “With Sympathy” era look.

I would love to hear more stories about this era!
