spoken word’s at college’s has it ever happen ?

had a conversation with him about it years ago.

I cannot remember the topic, but he did some panel/ interview thing about 4 years back. But he never kicked off the full blown spoken word thing that he hinted at on some occasion. Just add it to his ever growing resume of shit that got talked about at one point but never got past the drunk talk stage.

Sunny college at Fredonia , Ny asked for him but no reply

well he’s going to become a full-fledged college professor once The Last Sucker drops. it’s going to be Ministry’s final album. don’t worry though, he’s still going to put out a dub album, a collaboration with lil wayne and a comic book series.

he’s really got his shit together since he stopped drinking.

I think the biggest shock over that 2008-2012 period was that he actually got around to doing BUCK SATAN, hahhaaha!!! Of course, by that time no one was left to give a shit. Hank III had well plowed the country-punk field along with several others and people had long stopped thinking Buck Satan would ever happen, let alone cared about it. So, yeah, big flop. I actually kind of like the album, though. It would have been much better received 25 years ago, though, when it would have still been somewhat of a novel concept.

I found Buck Satan pretty underwhelming. In the 90s when he talked about it he claimed it was going to be old-school country. I was looking forward to that. The Bridge School show seemed like it was an indication of what Buck Satan would sound like. But when he finally did make it, it sounded pretty lame to me.

But yeah, there are a million promised projects that have never and will never see the light of day. New Pailhead? Ian Mackaye swatted down that claim a year or so ago on a podcast with Steve Albini. His collaboration with Trent Reznor that was going to come out “next year” turned out hillariously when Reznor said: “I have no idea what he’s talking about. I have no plans to work with him.” And Al said: “Well, I thought it would be a cool idea.” on twitter or facebook or something like that.

I’d like to hear new Lard material, which he’s also been promising since before the Last Sucker. But if it’s just going to be lame-ass programmed drums that sound like “Rock Demo 01” and some lazy chugga-chugga riffs with Jello singing over them, then I think I can skip it.

I liked the Buck Satan album. Perhaps it came at a time of drought, but I enjoyed most of it.

I agree. I was hoping for something in the vein of “Friend of the Devil”, or at least something raucous like BSQ Take 'em Right Off Mix, some type of redneck industrial metal country twisted hybrid. The result was not something quite like that.

The Buck Satan album was decent. He/they should have focused more on songs in the same vein as “Medication Nation”, “What’s wrong with me” and “Dignity”. I feel those particular songs display more of Al’s/Ministry’s identity, and to me that sounds more authentic or believeable in a way that the other “pure” country numbers don’t. Great choruses too, I might add. Their fast songs sometimes sound a little too, say, Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison playing next to a Toys-R-us drum machine and a drunk guy rambling along to it. That doesn’t mean it’s BAD though [laugh]

I still have faith in LARD. I’m actually a big fan of the Cocked and Loaded album, and especially those two tracks with Jello on them. They are both funny and really good, “Dead End Streets” especially is a rocker! If they could manage an album of around 8 songs of that quality, I’d buy a couple of copies.

I think Buck Satan was the best thing he’s done from a pure songwriting perspective since the '80s. If I ever get rich I’m going to commission him to re-record it as a pure roots country album with a bunch of Nashville session guys.

I liked Buck Satan as well. I went in thinking it would sound more old school country as well, but ended up falling in love with the catchy songs anyway.

I would not want to see him talk at this point, and I’m a huge fan. Honestly, he would be too stoned/drunk to make much sense or repeat himself too much, and I don’t want to see a musician at that stage. I thought the same thing about Eddie Van Halen during his worst years (2004ish). Even if Al cleaned up, his ranting about Trump or his shiny new weed card would probably be predictable and unbearable. He hasn’t said much in past few years that has been even remotely intelligent… is that too harsh? Seriously, though, the dude still brags about getting drunk and arrested with his joke of a girlfriend. It’s really sad.

Dude goes on Alex Jones. I’ll always respect the guy’s musical contributions, but he’s become a caricature of his former self.

that might happen when the audience “grows up”, and the ‘artist’ does not. people change in time, their tastes change, all to a various degree of course, etc, it’s normal.

suddenly you hear a song from 10 years ago, first remembering, oh my, those days, then you look at it differently from your current age or point in life and it’s “geez, that’s so stupid”.

hey maybe he can make an album of those spicy stories… you know, the ostrich one, that he told on the radio.

i love how people still bring up that Al (still) wants to teach as college professor. HAAAAAAAAAhahahahah

If he showed up on any college campus they’d put a broom in his hand.

Just be kind. Really just enjoy the whole whatever happens aspect, the damage has been done, no reverse installed on that transmittion. You can hope for your vision of what Al should be to materialize but you will only get a consistant bowl of the same.

I don’t think it’s a question of time passing or maturity. I think it’s a question of an addict really so far down the rabbit hole that it’s affected behavior profoundly. I hate to bring up my aforementioned example, but in Eddie Van Halen’s case, he drank for so long, he had health issues like Al, strange behavior like Al, but finally gave it up. Al has CONSTANTLY had enablers around him, which I imagine is the norm for a celeb… but damn wish he would just give up the alcohol. He’s an idiot when drunk. Seriously, he can barely string together a coherent sentence. That bad. Since he mentioned TALKING for a living at one point, which would be a good goal for him, he’s just drinks. Sigh.

I’m waiting to hear the impact on the new album. I liked some of Relapse and FBTE, so music is easier for him hammered than talking. Jesus though, the dude’s brain is hot soup when he’s drunk.

yeah that can’t be a good thing, agree
