It’s been a while since I’ve been on, so this may have been a topic posted in the past couple of months.
Just got a promotional announcement e-mail from 13th planet regarding the new RevCo release “Got Cock?” This isn’t as interesting to me as an announcement regarding a solo album from Al. What’s the word with this?
I think that’s about all we know so far, I’ve never seen a title or release date posted for it. He’s named The The and Fad Gadget as some of his influences for the project.
btw, that Got Cock deal with getting the new CD, T-shirt and an mp3 off the new album for 25 bucks ain’t bad… I’m wondering if they learned a lesson from that christmas single pricing debacle…
I pre-ordered Got Cock the other day, I’ll make sure to let you guys know how it sounds and the “Voices in My Head” track from it. I thought Trojan Horse was kind of boring, but I’m liking the sound of some of the other tracks on the MySpace. I definitely like the sound of Nu RevCo, although I never really warmed up to Cocked N Loaded.
The solo record’s got Mark Thwaite and Mike Scaccia and the bass player from the last tour on it. If the Xmas single is any indication, it sounds (a bit too much) like A Flock of Seagulls, but with Al yelling.
Also, I thought there was supposed to be a super-crazy deluxe version of Got Cock? with a special package. What happened to that, I wonder?

It would only be a good deal if the music was good and was the true Revolting Cocks.

Hah! Is that really what it sounds like? Why doesn’t he try actually singing again, his voice really aint that bad… So now he’s gonna do synth-pop again but with the screaming vocals just so folks know he’s still a badass!!!
Seems silly to me.
It seems they did learn something from the Xmas fiasco. The bundle for this album includes a classic design t-shirt (the RC wheat circle logo) now, instead of a new RevCo design.
The Al solo stuff is an interesting development, but so far all we’ve heard is the Xmas Time song and it didn’t sound sort of like Flock of Seagulls. It sounded EXACTLY like Flock of Seagulls (“Space Age Love Song” to be exact).
I have my Flock of Seagulls cd’s and my Ministry cd’s and never the 'twain shall meet! In Re Al’s screaming - it seems like he’s always had to prove something from every story i’ve read about him.

Is the xmas song really only a minute long?
no, it’s like fourish. There’s footage of him and his duders working on the solo album and it sounds like Buck Satan is finally actually happening, not synthy at all.
I think if this new solo album was a Buck Satan album, they would have been promoting it as that all along. Buck Satan is supposed to be country-influenced, not new wave.
I didn’t realize Lawton was supposedly showing that as “cover art”. That basic design had been released as a t-shirt about 4 years back. It was a cool design, but I just couldn’t bring myself to buy a t-shirt of a band that has never quite even been born.
“Hey cool shirt. Is that a band?”
“Yeah.”
“Who’s in it?”
“I don’t know.”
“What do they sing?”
“I don’t know.”
“Do they have any albums out?”
“No.”
“Wow. You must really be a big fan.”

well logically speaking i’m sure that printing up a couple thousand copies of a cd that’s not going to sell that costs 3 times (at least) more to put jeans on a cd case would really put the planet out of business
