3 things come to mind… #1 They are paying him royalties and he’s saving the checks up for value meal #3 At McDonalds
#2 they owe Al some royalty $ and Angie hasn’t learned of their owing, otherwise there would already be lawsuit filed.
#3 they may have, at the time, bought the jingle outright from Al and can use it however they like. perhaps they already had the jingle written and just payed Al a performance fee.
Reminds me of that Reno 911 eisode where one of the guys sings “And the installation is free” and thinks he gets $300 every time it airs when it’s really a one-time $300. Most commercial work is done as work for hire. They pay once and that’s it. Different from liscensing pre-existing songs.
