MINISTRY / PARIS Al Jourgensen Hospitalized
July 27, 2012 PARIS 9:05 pm Ministry Front man Al Jourgensen collapsed on-stage during the live Ministry performance and was rushed to hospital via ambulance where he was examined by numerous physicians and diagnosed to have had a full-system collapse due to extreme dehydration and heat exhaustion intensified by the lack of ventilation on stage at the venue. Doctors confirm via blood tests conducted that Jourgensen’s alcohol blood levels were well below normal and no narcotics were found in his system. As a result, Ministry has cancelled today’s appearance at the L’Etaples France Rock en Stock Festival in order to allow Mr. Jourgensen a few days rest to recuperate and receive additional medical attention in Switzerland. Jourgensen fully intends to complete the remaining shows on the Ministry DeFiBriLlaTouR European leg.
Jourgensen extends his most sincere apologies to his devoted Parisian fans who displayed so much love, respect and concern for him before and after the Ministry show. Says Jourgensen: “I will make it up to you, somehow. I love Paris, I love the Parisian people. I’m so sorry …but, shit happens and the shit hit the fan for me last night.”

As far as being dehydrated, I call bullshit on that too. At 1:30 you can clearly see him sweating. A bead of sweat even drips off his arm. If he really was so dehydrated that he collapsed there would be no sweat. Exteremly Dehydrated people don’t sweat.

Also watching Al hobble around like a little old man is embarrassing. How much of that is an act and how much is real? The dude is what? 50? Christ he needs a walker. Just sad. Watching the in case video and then seeing him in concert now is just undeniably sad.

Extreme bouts of drinking day in and day out will dehydrate the piss out of you for sure. Yeah he looked mighty smashed. He should change the lyrics to “I’m still wasted!”
Mic stand is cool looking yeah, also a cool way to hide your face so you can get away with lip syncing better.

Well, it’s no surprise to hear that Al is singing over his own vocal track…probably on many of the songs. I didn’t think he could belt out those songs night after night without a little help at this point.
I wonder what the Paris crowd was thinking, hearing the album vocals, and no Al at the mic. [shocked]

Exhaustion seems to be more of an issue in the video to me. Al appears to be dizzy as he is walking around. He may not have been dehydrated to the point of cramping, but it looked close. And yes, his drinking I am sure is the root of the problem.
I have been that dehydrated before. It suck and takes weks to recover.
I could barely hear him. Was he that out of it or just a case of shit sound?
Did Al collapse or leave the stage? There were different reports.

Based on the video that was posted it looked like he left the stage after waiting. Some pudgy stage tech was guiding him where to go prior to that.

If you smoke one joint, it’s not going to stay in your system as long as it would if you were a regular smoker. I think his health issues are still there, and the drinking isn’t helping. Doesn’t he chug down wine during shows? And you’re playing a festival during the summer? Yeah, that’s working out well…

That kind of confused me as well. Were they trying to say he was sober-ish when it happened?
