Al Interview - New (Talks About Sueing Over FIX)

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2011/04/ministry-frontman-al-jourgensen-sues-makers-of-behind-the-scenes-documentary-fix-.html

Just thought that I’d pass this on in case anyone is interested as I haven’t seen anyone else post this link yet.

Really not sure how this is going to pan out. Were they supposed to pay him with the profits? I wonder what the payment agreement even was. But didn’t I see in another thread here that they actually have him a portion of what they owed him? Guessing, 30k out of 70k?

And i’m not sure what to say about the approval stuff. Al says one thing, and the director says another. If Al didn’t have such a bad rep, i’d try and side with Al, but in this case, I dunno. I’d probably lean with the director for that reason alone.

But at the end of the day, it seems like they certainly owe Al the rest of his cut. Other than that, i’m not so sure.

The deal was 100k for life-story rights. They paid 30k and owe 70k yet. Not sure of the exact contractual agreement on the order of events, horse before cart or cart before horse.

It’s a little late to ask now; however, anyone have 70k sitting around? You’ll get a 15-years-in-the-making movie released for your efforts.

I’m tending to side with Freel on the “final cut” issue and Al on the money issue.

In the end I just want to see them settle out of court and put the damn movie out.

^
Which probably won’t happen without Al getting paid first. DOH!!!

What the makers of this film should do is issue shares. Let the fans who believe in the film buy portions of ownership and pay them percentages or the proceeds (if there are any).

I suppose they could also take conditional orders for $20 (or whatever the price point is) a piece with people’s credit card info and an agreement not to charge before product is ready to produce. Then this could be shown as a receivable to the bank to take out another line of credit which would be repaid right after product was ready . . . .

Or they can just continue to piss on each others’ shoes and scratch their balls.

$70K is small potatoes so I doubt it is about the money.

Keeping in mind that the attorney gets a cut, you are right; 70k was not enough. They are going for the 70k plus damages. I forget what the article stated as the total $ amount.

The movie guys should ask for the $30K back from Al and call it a day. Not worth it.

Smart, because you know al doesn’t have it to give back.
Late,
grmpysmrf

Maybe they’ll settle.

I’m looking forward to the opportunity to see Fix but I don’t want to pay for it if I know the money will got to Al, as I fear he will use the $$ to buy more drum machines.

I hope he DOES buy new drum machines.
I’m sick to death of the kit he’s used for every album since 2004.

i just want to see the damn movie…UNCUT! i hope they don’t put out some sort of edited version.

I hope he DOES buy new drum machines.
I’m sick to death of the kit he’s used for every album since 2004.

He should go back to the sound he had in the 80’s. Every Day Is Halloween, Over Th Shoulder, Stigmata etc

I hope he DOES buy new drum machines.
I’m sick to death of the kit he’s used for every album since 2004.

real drummers are the true rockstars, no?

Right on.
Bill Rieflin is such a rock star he couldn’t be bothered to go to the Cocks reunion.

Actually, I wonder if the fact that he’s still tight with Sascha Konietzko had anything to do with it.

bill is our best friend forever. he would kick your motherfucking ass on our behalf. bill is a saint.

Isn’t Rieflin in like a million different bands not counting drumming for REM? And I’m willing to bet he’s still very friendly with Connelly, barker, and co. Al is the obvious exception…

Aw, I was just being silly.

Aw, I was just being silly.

Silly is not allowed on this board! [pirate]
